UK Offers To Host Euros

The Sunday Times today:-

‘Britain is offering to host the entire European football championships this year after ministers drew up plans to let fans back into football stadiums and outdoor music festivals by the end of May.

Oliver Dowden, the culture secretary, has signalled to Uefa, European football’s governing body, that progress on vaccinations means the UK will have crowds back in stadiums before most of Europe. Wembley stadium is set to host the semifinals and then the final on July 11, but government sources said if they are asked to take on more games, which are due to be played around Europe, they would respond positively.

The proposal has been made possible by Boris Johnson’s “road map to recovery”, which the prime minister will publish tomorrow.’

I think it’s likely some fans will be able to return to National League stadiums before the end of this season.

Israel has vaccinated 48.8% of their population, and with the use of vaccination apps is about to permit outdoor sporting event attendances of up to 500.

We currently appear to be about six weeks behind the Israeli vaccination roll out.

But it won't just be vaccinated Brits attending the matches! An influx of fans from all over Europe (and beyond) can only mean trouble I reckon...

Makes me think that a rendition of 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life' is needed now.
