Some thoughts for 5th February 2021

There hasn't been a new topic on this forum for sixteen days now.

As Slough Town are possibly not going to play football for some time, I might get away with a take on another club, much loved by some of our supporters and Unders - Tottenham Hotspur.

One of those is 3spirit who, whilst I must apologise for interrupting the sixteen days of uninterrupted posts to his topic "A couple of non league snippets", I must congratulate him on his post which opened on 25th May 2014 receiving 559 posts to date. It's like the opening line of "Seven nation army" by The White Stripes - C sharp, C sharp, E, C sharp, B, A, G sharp. So simple but so catchy, with massive and lasting appeal.

Here is a photo of Jose Mourinho "watching" Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea last evening. There are so many thoughts going through his mind :-

The Premier League should have the ability to decide it's own fate.

The season should be immediately be declared null and void.

We have no crowd to encourage the team and no gate receipts. We do not know when we may be able to welcome back a normal-sized crowd.

The directors do not wish to saddle the club now and into the future with debts it may not be able to repay, having already taken out a £175m 0.5% Government Coronavirus Loan on 4th June 2020, none of which was available to buy players with, which is repayable by 30th April 2022.

It is impossible at this stage to budget effectively for the future.

All my players have agreed between themselves to opt out of playing, despite having the obligation to fulfil fixtures.

My players say that they feel uneasy about entering the dressing room without a proper regime in place.

We are no further towards a solution.

I await the outcome of a directors meeting on these topics.
