Slough v Dartford (FA Trophy 2nd Round)

Just watched the match highlights and the 'goal cam' shots are an excellent addition to the video. Not sure why it wasn't used for the penalty shoot-out.

Looking at the Dartford goals, their second goal was a well taken free kick but I think their first was maybe not such a good goal to concede when looking at the replay.

The only thing you can say is the midfielder gets the wrong side of two of our players, who get missed out by the ball, however he takes a touch and instantly he has a defender (think Sam) closing him down but he gets off a shot into bottom corner... in reality him being the other side of midfielders is not great, but still has a lot to do, and not a mistake/error, that is just football, and good movement from him.

Well say, Neil. Should always give credit where it's due. We've had some great days in the Trophy over the years - semis against the Daggers and Southport, winning away at Stevenage come to mind and I'm sure we will again. We should always remember that in the trophy we're the equivalent of a championship club in the FA Cup. Sometimes they make the latter stages but you don't expect them to.

At the beginning of every season I think it should be in our minds as it's the trophy we can realistically expect to progress well in.

The scorer actually takes a heavy touch and if say Josh was doing the marking and Guy was the spare man, Guy would have been in a position to clear the ball.

As you say that's football and nothing is perfect.

Have to say, I think it was the best I've seen us play in a little while and largely down to the fact we were more confident and forward thinking when we had the ball. Think we've been a little too slow to move the ball forward in recent home performances, but Tuesday saw us picking the attacking passes more frequently than holding the ball and then moving it square or back.

Plenty of positives to take from it if we can take that confidence to move the ball forward to feet more often and no doubt we will be picking up wins before long. Not an easy ask against Oxford and St Albans, but certainly not beyond what this side is capable of.

Agree with what you're saying Gary.

Not certain but either we didn't or did minimal passing it short from a goal kick or as you say sideways and backwards which for me can only be a plus point.
