As long as we get the 30k in January and it's a grant not a loan I think we will be ok.

Of course if everyone behaves themselves and Slough gets put into tier 2 when the tiers are revised then there shouldn't be a problem.

Next scheduled review of Slough tiering is 16th December.

Just over a year ago Slough MP Tan Dhesi got up in Parliament and gave an impassioned speech about racism here in the UK. He even called out Boris in person over previous comments he head made. And now we have Boris's revenge........

He was right though. I've got a lot of time for Tan

Having read the Sunday papers I would be surprised if there was much change to the tiers before the end of January, and hopefully the Club are already in discussions with the National League regarding grant funds continuing for tier 3 clubs in January.

The DCMS has made £300 million available in a Winter Sport Survival package, £50 million of which is grants.

It looks like a total of £11 million is available to National League clubs (I don’t think this includes the £10 million from the Lottery Fund), and if a similar percentage to the overall fund is available in grants then nearly £2 million in grants would be available.

We are not alone as many other National League clubs are in tier 3:-

National League Premier Altrincham; Chesterfield; Dover Athletic; FC Halifax Town; Hartlepool United; Notts County; Solihull Moors; Stockport County; Wrexham (9)

National League North : AFC Fylde; Alfreton Town; Blyth Spartans; Boston United; Bradford Park Avenue; Chorley; Curzon Ashton; Darlington; Farsley Celtic; Gateshead; Guiseley; Leaminton; Spennymoor Town (13)

National League South : Dartford; Ebbsfleet United; Maidstone United; Slough Town; Tonbridge Angels (5)

If the grants continued for these clubs in January, then the funding required would be for 9 clubs at £90k & 18 clubs at £30k, a total of £1.35 million.

So, the funds by way of grants do appear to be available, but all clubs in tier 3 need to work together to ensure they do get allocated them.

Looking at the government website the wording say's 'largely composed of loans' so not sure where the 50 million grant figure comes from.

As you say it doesn't seem to be clear if this money is on top of the lottery money.

Ollie Bayliss Twitter:-

It’s been confirmed that the majority of the Government’s £300m 'Winter Survival Package' is available in loans rather than grants.

£250m in loans
£50m in grants £11m of funding has been earmarked for Steps 1-2.
£14m of funding has been earmarked for Steps 3-6.

On what basis do they decide what clubs can have the money as a grant or as a loan?

Or will it be every club can have a share of the money as part grant part loan?

Grants have been provided until the end of December for all clubs that aren’t permitted fans attending, and personally I would expect these grants would have to continue for clubs until their fans can return.

If clubs get in to financial difficulty even with their fans returning then I would expect them to be able to apply for loans, but it wouldn’t surprise me if these are difficult to secure as there will probably be criteria to meet around an ability to repay them in the future, and difficult since most clubs in the National League make losses or at best just break even.
