Essex Thamesside Trophy - Second Round

As the Romford website is temporarily at rest I thought you would all like to know the result of last night's match at Rush Green.

 

It was Romford 1 Great Wakering Rovers 0.

 

 

Scorer was (of course) Kevin Clark who latched on to a piercing cross field ball from the right and, beating off the attentions of three defenders, fired a low left foot shot past the advancing Rovers goalkeeper into the right hand corner of the visitors net.

 

Both sides tried to play good football despite the greasy surface and it was a highly competitive match. The winning goal was scored a minute or so before the final whistle which, if scoreless would have led to extra time and penalties if necessary.

Wakering's committee regarded that as a mercy killing, as their players were beginning to tire and they thought we'd probably have stuck three or four past them in extra time.
