Bath City 31st Oct H

I'm  a glass half full person so I'm  expecting a different result from our last meeting when they put us out of the FA Cup

That result was a reflection of how we played that day and not about any great performance by them

We go into this match well rested(hope we dont have any training injuries) and buoyed up by the amazing fighting comeback last time out

Bath were well beaten 0-3 at home and exited the FACup not good for confidence or morale

Early days yet but Bath are below us in the table and have scored 0 away points and 0 away goals  That's why I'm looking forward to this game

I'm expecting another battle for the points, though, despite Bath's away league record. They have a number of talented players in their team and if anything, I expect them to turn their form around soon. That said, Slough will be going into it fresh and hopefully, our players have healed from their injuries [although there's bound to be a couple that won't be ready], so we should be in good shape to give Bath City a hard match, when they visit Arbour Park. It doesn't look on paper that there will be loads of goals in the game but it would be good if Slough can find their shooting boots for this one and thus avenge our FA Cup exit to them. Pure guess, I'll go for a 2-1 victory to Slough.

I'll just add that apart from having our shooting boots on we'll have to cut out our recent defensive frailties to get a positive result from the game.

Not sure any reference to Baths away form at this stage of the season and with the current situation will have any relevance to the outcome.

Most teams conceding an equaliser with just minutes to go would have gone into mass defence mode  Bath were overjoyed with what they believed was an away point but this group will be trying to score till the final whistle they keep going for it (ask Welling) well done! and 3Spirit spot on with the predicted score !

A well deserved win. Our performance was good & on another day it would have been a handsome score line. Classic sucker punch to concede so soon after going ahead. Since we're specialising in late goals, I needn't have worried!!

Completely agree, it was a good performance and the win was well deserved. Our midfield looks very strong and Mcglip, Aaron Kuhl and Lenchy were impressive today.

Did we play a 4-5-1 ?

Going for the Mauricio Pochettino favoured formation, lol !

I think overall we played well and apart from the goal that we conceded I think we looked a lot tighter at the back with the two Togwells playing well as a partnership.

Having said that, especially in the first half, we created enough scoring opportunities to virtually put the game to bed by half time but instead it took two excellent goals from Cameron McGilp and Max Worsfold to give us the 3 points that our performance deserved.

Just listened to the post match interview with the Bath City manager Jerry Gill.

I really shouldn't be surprised how disingenuous and one eyed some of these other managers are.

'Shouldn't have been a free kick'

I've just looked at the replay and it certainly looks a nailed on penalty from the video view.

'Should have been a draw which would have been a fair result'

Not sure what game he was watching because we had many more chances to score than Bath especially in the first half.

And not one mention of how well the opposition played, just that it was a poor game with lots of passes going astray.

Morning all.

Having had an enjoyable weekend due in great part to a brilliant injury time win on Saturday, i feel the need to stick my head above the parapet again and ask a few questions.

After Ade's last match I  provided some "feedback"  ( good word that ) on this forum.

I have to say that i thought Ade had an almost flawless commentary in the win against Bath City.

Yep, I did say "almost".

Ade, may I ask you a question please ?

Where do we all live ?

The answer obviously is "in a submarine".

Ade, what colour is that submarine?

Is it red?

No.

Is it green?

No.

Is it yellow?

No, it is not bloomin'  yellow.

It's AMBER.

Ade, how could you say we play in "yellow and blue", which you said just before the game kicked off ?

Ade my friend, we play in AMBER and blue.

Sooooooooooooo  close to a cigar, but not quite.

I have another question for Unders.

It concerns our new attacking loan signing.

Jon, we all know that you are a 100% dyed in the wool Spurs fan.

How would you feel if Spurs had lots of injuries to their forwards, and Jose Mourinho makes an announcement to all the Spurs fan's that he's solved their worries by bringing in on loan a player from their historic, most despised rivals Arsenal ?

Even if this new loan signing was a lovely bloke, loved his mum and was extremely kind to animals, would you Jon welcome him with open arms or be reaching for the sick bucket ?

Just wondering ?

Must admit I cringed when I think Ade said Blue and Yellow but these things can slip out in the heat of the moment and I'm sure we can all forgive him unless it happens again ;) :laugh(2):

I too thought Ade again was almost faultless with his match commentary, my only complaint ;)  is that my computer didn't shake like it normally does from Ade's vociferous tones when it came to our winning goal  ?

I would not have an issue with that scenario to be honest. When I was in my teens and early 20’s I don’t mind admitting I hated Arsenal with a passion but that has mellowed over the years.

Some may not agree but I’m not quite sure you can compare the rivalry between Spurs and Arsenal who play at the same level and compete for Champs League and trophies (unsuccessfully I know!) every season with the rivalry we have with Wycombe who play 4 levels above us. Obviously I respect the history and know that in days gone by the two clubs were conference rivals but I would be very surprised if any Slough fans held that against a young 19 year old who is coming in to help us while learning his trade in senior football.

Morning Jon.

When I wrote my post I was attempting to be humorous, but reading it now a bit later, it might seem to be an some sort of "attack" on your transfer policy.

That is definately not the case.

I  just wanted to try to illustrate what it feels like to me, a fan who well remembers the bitter rivalry between Slough and that team in blue from Buckinghamshire  in the 70's,80's and 90's, to sign someone from our oldest, deadliest rivals.

No offence intended Jon.

Hi Jon. I was just writing my previous post when you responded to my original one!

I know that our 2 clubs  have gone on vastly different path's in the last 25 years, but I still vividly remember the games in the 70's , 80's and 90's  we had against that team in blue.

Despite our differing levels of football now, that blue team will always be the team I regard as our most bitterest rivals.

Beating them was so sweet, losing to them was horrendous.

I  still cheer when I see that team from Buckinghamshire  have lost a match ,and boo when they win a game.

Can't help it Jon !

Nothing personal  about the new signing Jon.

As I said he is probably a lovely bloke, loves his mum and is good to animals.

Nothing personally against the lad at all.

I just hope he is prepared for the eternal damnation that awaits him in the next life for selling his soul to that team in Bucks.
