Holyprt Rebel you must watch the Kettering playoff final again there commentators were so biased and dull from build up till when Jonny Dyer scored then they changed when they could see the direction of the game was going against them.

Yet still had the nerve to say at the end Kettering were beaten by an average Slough side.

Not the type of commentary for me.

You have to give credit to the opposition if deserved.

The Dartford commentary the other week wasn't a great deal better. Apparently it's "clever play" to be awarded a free-kick when you've clearly been fouled!

Thanks to those who took the time to provide comments on the stream quality. I know the team at FCV, and Matt/Tom have put in a lot of effort to get us to where we are and hopefully we can continue to improve the service whilst fans are no longer allowed in.

On the commentary, I think Ade is doing a grand job. By no means without issue, but I think as a club we have provided neutral reports and now commentary for many years and will no doubt do so in the future and I think the commentary aligns perfectly with that, in my opinion. He has a close enough relationship with the squad and management but has no issue in calling out a bad performance if he thinks that's what he's seeing.  There's been times in the past where he's called out the atmosphere at home games where I've think it's been pretty good (for home games) but he's obviously just offering up his perception of things. I do hope one day I'll join him on air and then you'll appreciate just how fine a job he's doing!!

Love watching   this game really biased commentators, when Kettering took an early 2-0 lead they gloated easy easy by the end of the game they were so deflated, karma.

Can I just say that I was trying very hard not to appear too "critical" of Ade's commentary, but any adverse comment is bound I guess to come across that way.

I totally agree that Ade does a fantastic job with his commentaries and is a top bloke, but as Reading Rebel said in his reply to my post,  "people will view and see things differently and opinions will differ."

I don't really support the idea of a totally biased approach to commentating on a Slough Town match.

I shouldn't have said that as that is a ridiculous idea, but I still stand by my comment that Ade said things in his commentary yesterday that really surprised me.

Not really sure I agree with your view HR.

Firstly when watching a game people will see and view things differently and opinions will differ.

Rather than trying to be unduly unbiased or one sided I think Ade commentates and just gives his honest views on a game as he sees it. If the opposition or indeed Slough are playing really poorly or he thinks it's a nasty foul by a Slough player or a penalty to the opposition he won't fudge the issue he'll just give an honest opinion on what he's seen which is certainly something I like and appreciate.

Just 100% disagree with HR on this. He tries to be unbiased but you know he wants Slough to win which is how I like it. When commentary is really biased even towards a team I want to win I feel almost embarrassed. He also injects humour and given our defensive first half horror show I entirely understand why he, in jest, said that you'd be better off watching bakeoff. I think he as well as we was very happy to be wrong.

I think Ade, as a volunteer and committee member is a huge asset to the club.

I think his reactions with late winners, or equaliser in yesterday's case, always show he's really rooting for us. I think for the main part he's striking a good balance and saw some complimentary comments about his unbiased viewpoint from Bath supporters after the FA Cup game. Constructive criticism should always be offered and welcome as well though, always good to hear different opinions and viewpoints.

I think you made a valid point, Holyport Rebel. I understand why you felt it was worth mentioning.

We [all forumites] get shot down from time to time, when we say something that strikes as though it is against the club. Don't take it personal. I sometimes feel that people rush to have a go about a subject, without actually reading the posting properly, and then there are few members of the forum, who like to agitate and wind up posters [especially if they aren't in their circle of friends or are deemed outsiders to the clubs ranks].

You are entitled to your opinion, Holyport Rebel, and it's good to have a variety of opinions on club matters, as that is what keeps this forum fresh and working properly. It's never been about agreeing with everybody, or the majority.

So keep on posting.

Firstly, thanks for a lot of kind words from so many. Secondly, HR thanks for your feedback, always nice to receive.

if I could explain, I’ve probably got the best view in the stadium, half way line and highest point, and see a lot more of the game than most. With the steaming, you only see what the camera picks up, so I will see other things such as good/bad runs, in/out of position, off the ball incidents or , as in the case on Saturday, Unders face when we conceded goals 2+3. My views are of an overall view that others don’t see, I’ll call a mistake against anyone who makes it but will never ‘slag’ someone off and , as opposing and tune in, I’ll be as honest as I can.

As for some of my comments made, it’s very hard, especially when we don’t play well or defend props, not to get frustrated so I’ll tend to ‘try’ to be funny. Gary will confirm that on Saturday I was fuming with some of our play in the first half but instead I try to make it lighthearted.

Always at the back of my mind is the fact that, as a representative of the club, that I have to make sure that I don’t offend anyone listening/watching.

Hi Ade.

Yours is a very honest and revealing post.

I'm grateful that you see my comments as "feedback".

Good word.

That's all my comments were meant to be.

There was never any malice intended.

Blimey, I know what a great deal you do behind the scenes at our club as well as the great service you provide with radio/streaming coverage of Rebels matches.

It was exactly because I know what a die-hard, true Rebels fan you are that I was taken aback by some of your words on Saturday.

I'm grateful that you seem to have taken my comments in the spirit in which they were intended, and I look forward to your commentary on the next Slough match in a couple of weeks time.

Can I also say to "3spirit"  thank you for the positive words in your post.

They were much appreciated.

One significant point that you make here, now in the time of lockdown, which Bakes and Unders should heed, is how good your view of the game is. I don't know if they have done this for games this season or ever but I would have thought it would be a good idea for one of them to watch the game from near your vantage point. I've seen plenty of managers do this over the years, both professional and semi-pro.Steve King did it for the first half of Dartford's visit to Arbour Park last season but I don't recall Bakes or Unders ever bothering to do it. Could be wrong about this but just thought it was a point worth making, given that we fans are struggling for football subjects[other than coronavirus] to talk about !

3Spirit watching the game it looked like Unders in the dugout and you could hear Bakes in the stand not the first time this season also Lee is often in the stand giving instructions. This is my view when watching the game unless someone says different.

I stand corrected.

Apologies, just thought the topic was worthy of a mention.
