Are you saying Steve owns a company that owns the official website? If yes what relevance is that?

Actually I'm not saying it the club is Click on terms of use  and The same company that used to own the club is shown as owning the website   I would love it if he were still in the background and it's been said so many times that he's  left the club  I think it's relevant if that's not totally accurate

There is no money man at Slough just as you say very good people running the club. The club pays out what it earns from match revenue and any other sponsorships. This is why our budget is more mid table than promotion chasing.

That's fine, if that is the case but that seems a short term arrangement and not one likely to gain promotion.

I was only highlighting the point made by Reading Rebel about having the right people at the helm to get the club promoted. I don't doubt Reading Rebel's sincerity in saying this, and I know myself what good people we have on the board but it seems outlandish to think the club's in a great position to get up to the National League.

I'm just happy we've got a club, and hope we can survive and prosper but be sustainable, and not get carried away when we haven't got the financial clout needed to climb the divisions.

So who is?

Reading Rebel, you said in your post that 'Slough had the right people at the helm to get Slough promoted'.

As far as I can see we only have ordinary supporters[but lovely people!:-] ]running the club. I know we've finally, after all these years, got sponsorship from the Slough trading estate. I'm also aware of Morgan Sindall's sponsorship and of course, Slough Borough Council's involvement with the ground but who is making the financial decisions?

I know this question has mystified a number of supporters, as I get asked this question regularly.

3spirit, if you go onto our website home page and go to 'the club' drop down box and then to the 'contact us' section it gives you all the information on who's who at the club.

It's not quite up to date because Mike Lightfoot has now taken over as Chairman from John Porter.

As far as I'm aware all club/financial decisions are made by the Chairman and our steering group.

That’s why it’s so important we raise the crowd levels at AP. To challenge for promotion we need to be hitting 1000 on a regular basis instead of the current 750/800. It’s even more unlikely now to get a ‘money man’ in so the club can only spend what it earns so a top 7 finish is certainly punching above our weight.

Yes I know all that, GlenSTFC pretty much summed it up in his post.

As I said on another post after, I can't see how you can think the club is in good shape for promotion. I would say we're going to be hanging on until a backer is found.

I think we are heading in the right direction with our Academy23 side, our two ladies teams and our youth teams.

That is why I can see Bakes and Unders leaving the club within the next two seasons. The club will then have a bigger decision to make in who they will recruit to replace them, and where the club deems it's placing to be.

Clearly some club chairmen are exceedingly angry about the way this money has been distributed. This is by no means the only example:

I have seen a calculation that indicates that Slough pretty much broke even in relation to average attendances. The "winners" appear to be those clubs that, relatively speaking,  were at the lower end of their respective division's attendances. I imagine we can all work out who they are. So either their backers can have a little "investment holiday" or a they can undertake a bit of squad strengthening with the extra cash.

What utter tosh is uttered on this forum.

Ownership of the club is transparent if you know where to look.

Speculation - and it is only speculation about other clubs finances are just like old women’s gossip over the fence.

And as for the future of the management - that is for them and the board, not mindless drivel on here.

I think you are absolutely right about our club needing average attendances of 1,000 in order to generate the funds to compete for promotion.

But these recent emergency grants (£30k for NS/NN & £84k for NP) shows the gulf between an average attendance National South club (which is where we are at present) and an average attendance National Premier club, and the funds generated by them from attendances.

So, yes, attendances of 1,000 would give us a realistic prospect of promotion, but 1,500 would be required to have a reasonable chance of surviving in the National Premier.

The emergency grant funds will give Wealdstone & Weymouth and fantastic chance of surviving this season though, when they probably would have struggled with their attendances of 1,000-1,100 last season.

Curtis - I would imagine Glen's thinking behind the 1000 minimum average in NLS would then be you'd see that average rise again with promotion to NL with - better away support numbers, better local support due to a higher standard of football, great exposure with TV deals etc and better sponsorship levels due to all of the above, thus bridging that gap in the financial disparity.

Of course, the grant numbers seem to be based around a mandatory number as opposed to actual income lost so it seems slightly misleading to look at those as an indicator of amounts required to survive or prosper in the NL.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

You might be in the know, SR1965 but not every fan is, that is why we have a football forum to talk about club matters.

It seems to me that you are one of life's agitators. I like a wind up now and again[who doesn't?] but you seem to have gotten to be a professional at it. What's eating you? I find if you get bitter and twisted, it brings the worst things back. Where's the love for your Slough Town FC comrades? Surely we are supposed to be on the same side.

Yes, we can have differences of opinion but why you have to resort to insulting fans, is beyond me.

If it was as clear as you say it is, why do I get a number of fans asking me what the situation is, with the clubs finances and chairmanship?

Chairmanship is clearly quoted on the clubs website and ownership on companies house.

And as for "love & comerdes" it is not me who is asking when the managers will leave but you! - from your post above "That is why I can see Bakes and Unders leaving the club within the next two seasons." Posted Thursday at 19:50.

Great to see a moderator attacking other members on here - just following your lead.
