Slough v Wealdstone (pre-season game)

My tuppence worth on a good pre-season win against last seasons NLS Champions.

The only two players missing were Guy Hollis and Dan Roberts.

First half, although we did create some good chances through Warren Harris and Josh Jackman, I thought Wealdstone were the better side with the majority of the possession but failed to capitalize on any of the chances they created.

I thought we were pressured into making some mistakes when trying to play the ball out from the back and far too often gave away possession with some sloppy play in midfield.

Second half we looked much better with Lenchy and Jack McKnight combining well and looking a good combination in midfield.

I also thought the young lad from the under 23's Ada Okorogheye did very well running at Wealdstone and causing them some problems.

Overall a good performance which should do our confidence no harm ahead of the Dartford game.

Is the Dartford game going ahead is the season 2021 going ahead.

By the looks of it you've watched most of the matches, RR, so how about a guess on Bakes and Unders starting line up for the Dartford match? Unfortunately I've haven't seen any Slough match yet, due to having to look after the pennies, so it's pointless me naming a team.

A few questions for you also, if that's ok, did  you mean Matt Lench and Jack McKnight in the middle of central midfield together at Wealdstone? How did Louis Lomas get on at left back? What position did the trialist play?  Is Ada Oko fast?

So many questions :laugh(2):

Yes, I think Lenchy went more central when changes were made at half time. Jack McKnight also came on at half time and playing with Lenchy for me they both showed a lot of composure and good understanding as a pairing.

Louis Lomas continues to impress and looks good foraging at pace down the wing.

The trialist also plays central and also did some good work. It looks as if he likes to break up play. If he's happy to be part of a squad I personally think he would be ok for us.

Ada did well when he came on. He likes to get the ball and run at defenders and looks fairly quick. He's certainly raw but shows a lot of promise and looks the sort of player who can change a game with his direct style.

My guess at the starting 11:

4-1-4-1

                         Turner,

Jackman   Sam Togwell  Bird  Lomas

                       L Togwell

W Harris  McKnight  Lench  Worsfold

                       Ben Harris.

Cheers for the update, Reading Rebel. Thanks for answering my questions. Think our lads have got their work cut out to get a result at Dartford but then again it might be the right time to play them, given they haven't got into their stride yet either.  I'd be surprised if Bakes and Unders opt for only one up front but I never seem to predict their line ups, so I don't suppose it's out of the question.

Purely a guess but I think Paul Hodges might make the line up especially if Dan Roberts isn't fit. Maybe with Wazza and Ben Harris up front and Paul Hodges on the right side but as I haven't seen any of Slough games, I could be well off the mark.

Personally I'd be surprised if we don't go with one up front.

Certainly some stiff competition for places in the middle and up front but Paul Hodges is certainly looking more like the good player we know he is and will be a real asset for us this season.

Still think he's more of a number 10 than an out and out striker.

Thank goodness VAR will not be involved the concept was good but decisions have gone far to far what happened to common sense.

Footballs not meant to be perfect unfortunately that's what VAR's been brought in to try to achieve.

The result is a machine picks up on handball, offside etc and a human being makes the final decision.
