Division Two

Bovingdon v Totternhoe

I wonder how this one will pan out tomorrow between two sides who won their opening League fixtures last Saturday, Totternhoe won 2-1 at Green Lane last season in the Division 2 Cup however only the League game at Dunstable Road was played resulting in a 1-0 win for Bovingdon:

Division One

Ampthill Town v New Salamis

Is this the game of the day, New Salamis could still be feeling the affects of the FA Cup defeat to Brentwood Town last Monday:

Enfield Borough v Bedford

This will be an interesting one this afternoon won't it, I wonder if Bedford can make it three league wins out of three:

Division One

Rayners Lane v Amersham Town

I expect groundhoppers will be falling over themselves to get to Tithe Farm this afternoon with a paper programme available, that is a really shrewd move on Rayners Lane's part to announce that:

The last time I was at Rayners Lane, September 2019, at a midweek game, the programmes didn't turn up until ten to ten.

Punters at the turnstiles at 7.45 were told 'The chap who does them hasn't delivered them yet'.

Yes he had.  He had delivered them much earlier and left them in a cupboard in the clubhouse.  Unfortunately, he didn't tell anyone, and so it was only after the game that someone opened the cupboard and found them.

The delights of Step 6.

Division One

St Panteleimon v London Tigers

St Panteleimon's first competitive fixture at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium, you have to feel a bit sorry for London Tigers who, along with Enfield Borough, have yet to kick a ball in anger in the SSML Division One this season

No complaints about the result today, we were completely out battled against a much changed and more organised MK Gallacticos.

we missed a retaken penalty 3 times which was a game changer as Gallacticos went straight up the other end to make it 1-0.

They played the conditions better and we were really shit. Oh well one of those days.

Leighton Town are scoring for fun again!

Yes, but not Connor Calcutt who was on the bench today and didn't come on until it was 5-0, so much for AlwaysLeighton's bold prediction that he will 'no doubt score 30+ goals with ease'.

Division One

Ampthill Town 1 New Salamis 1

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Ampthill Park, surprising the attendance wasn't over three figures:

Spartan South Midlands League Division 1
Ampthill Town 1 New Salamis 1
Admission £3 (concessions) Attendance c80 (headcount)

An entertaining match on a windy day at tree-lined Ampthill Park. New Salamis probably had the better of the first half but chances were missed at both ends with a close range header from Ampthill being the nearest we got to breaking the deadlock. Ampthill had much more of the play in the second period and should probably been in front before a long clearance forward was missed by a home defender and Georgiou ran clear to put the visitors ahead with ten minutes left. Ampthill continued to press forward and soon got their reward when a clumsy push on their #5 when he was facing his own goal gave them a penalty and Cerminara obliged with the resulting kick to earn them a deserved equaliser.

A nice ground with covered accommodation on top of a grassy bank along one side of the ground. Covid precautions were the most comprehensive I've seen this season with temperature check, scanning of the NHS QR code and squirt of hand sanitiser all compulsory to secure admission. A one way system to the clubhouse, tea bar and toilets was clearly marked and even the referee and his assistants were wearing masks when entering and leaving the the pitch. The modest attendance meant that distancing was no problem with almost all spectators co-operating.
