Season tickets

Just a question, and I’m not having a go or singling anyone out, but would you rather the club offer season tickets now despite not knowing if you could attend all the games or would you rather wait for more clarification on the situation before buying?

Hi Ade

I personally would for 2 reasons

  1. (and much the most important) it would give the club some income now when you can't charge fans in general
  2. assuming we have limited capacity and season ticket holders have some priority in actually getting to attend games then I get my my place in the theoretical queue. Think I speak for 2 other family members who are season ticket holders too (one who was working abroad for most of last season - up until lockdown anyway - and still had a season ticket even though he couldn't attend.)

I recognise that you have to balance the views of all possible season ticket purchasers though against the commercial interests of the club which is hard to do so I, for one, will leave it in your capable hands.

I thought it was increased from an initial 15% to 30% of the ground grading capacity?

That's exactly it - it's been 30% of the minimum ground grading capacity for the level. That would be 1000 for us, BUT who knows now the situation is under review.

I hate to say it but it looks like there will be no season tickets for attendance at Arbour vale, as if the Covid19 numbers continue upwards sporting events will not be allowing fans in, although there are these trail games with 1,000, I cant see them lasting.

Maybe the way forward is a streaming season ticket?

Far from perfect but the next best thing and some income is better than nowt. Problem is finding the right price point. Personally I’d say £5 is a little low but I guess you need to balance that with wanting as many fans as possible paying. I think nearer £10 would be fair especially when there may be 2,3 or 4 fans watching who’d normally pay individually.

Plans for fans to return to watch live sport events in England from 1 October will not go ahead, says cabinet office minister Michael Gove.

New measures will be set out by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Gove confirmed plans for a staged return of fans would be "paused".

Not really a surprise but depending on how long the start button is paused for could have massive ramifications for all clubs. I wonder if the league will decide to not start and just wait for the go ahead whether that’s 2 weeks or 2 months or start but with live streaming. Let’s hope everyone has the sense to abide by anybnew rules so we can get football soon.

The league have indicated that we won't start without fans and that is the right way to go in my opinion. Not sure what will happen with the FA cup.

The streaming service is only ever intended to supplement a restricted live crowd. No one at the club I've spoke to wants to go ahead behind closed doors. I've experienced a couple of these games now and it's just not football without a crowd. No offence to any of our players or managers but it brings it home that the football itself is just a small part of the overall experience and meeting friends, having a beer and a singalong is just as important, maybe more so.

For now, we'll plough on though until told otherwise.

But we can still go to pubs, clubs, restaurants and cram onto planes, trains and buses but we cannot have restricted numbers socially distancing in the fresh air.

Also who knew that the virus cannot affect anyone until 10 o'clock at night?

It's all just more nonsensical rubbish from these blithering idiots in power.

RR, have you been on a bus or a train lately? My local 3 bus has most seats marked unavailable due to social distancing whilst Lindon red buses are restricted to a capacity of 20 for single-deckers and 30 for double-deckers with an extra allowance for families sitting together. Many trains also have seats marked unavailable although on the local TFL services it is up to the passengers to comply with the regulations.

As far as pubs possibly being required to shut at 10 pm, I believe that this is because after 10 pm is the busiest time for many bars and therefore customers are likely to find social distancing more difficult.

As far as the politics is concerned, which ever party was in power would have a very difficult situation to deal with, the same as in any other country. Whatever they do, rightly or wrongly, there will be the Piers Corbyns and Noel Gallaghers as well as leading professionals saying the opposite.

My other local football team, Hayes & Yeading United, are largely unaffected by the pandemic. Their low gates fit in well below the division limit of 300. I was at
The SKYex for Hayes & Yeading United 1 Taunton Town 1 on Saturday in a crowd of 246.

I look forward to seeing you again RR when it is safe to do so!!!

No offence taken Mark, we all completely agree, it’s just not the same.

That's good that there is social distancing measures in place indoors but the point is there would also be these measures in place in the fresh air which as the experts have said is much safer.

So what do you think will happen if they implement closing times at 10 o'clock in the evening? people will bring their drinking/socializing times forward and the busiest times for bars will be before 10. You won't stop it by closing at 10.

Of course any party would find it difficult but not sure any party would make such a real cock-up of it.

Not sure if this is true but I did hear someone on talk sport saying this expected announcement today of not letting fans in from Oct 1st could also effect the whole pyramid not just down to step 2 of non league.
