Wembley FC

I think we should have a thread on Wembley in their own right rather than a shared one with Edgware Town, it remains to be seen whether Wembley will be leaving the SSML at the end of the forthcoming season however hopefully not as they have been a valued member of the League since joining for the 2014/15 season from the Combined Counties League Premier Division following a sideways move:

Sorry to do this to you folks but it's him I'm afraid, the Grounhopping FC guy, he was at the Wembley v North Greenford United SSML Premier Division fixture last season, on 28 December 2019, which North Greenford United surprisingly won 2-1 as they were bottom of the table at that juncture:

Groundhopping FC gets about doesn't he

Yes, sorry to inflict him on you however at times he's so annoying that it can be quite amusing and he always has exactly the same cliches wherever he goes such as 'hello there', 'see you in the ground', hopefully it will be a good game' and 'it's a nice ground to be fair'. As you say he gets about and has been over to Germany at places like Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach as well as Guernsey FC and also a game in the Philippines of all places.

Yep I quite like watching his vids to be honest.

He seems to film the games behind the goal at whatever end the home team are shooting at.

A bit after the Lord Mayor's Show but photographs from a pre-season friendly between Wembley and Hendon, at Vale Farm on Saturday 28 July 2012, resulting in a 3-0 win for Hendon who were still groundsharing at Vale Farm at the time but moved to Earlsmead at the end of that season 2012/13 season to share with Harrow Borough. Wembley were in the Combined Counties League Premier Division finishing 15th that season despite money being poured into the Club by Budweiser and it was the 'famous' or 'infamous' campaign where Terry Venable became involved along with Ray Parlour, Martin Keown, Graeme Le Saux, Claudio Caniggia, Brian McBride, David Seaman and Ugo Ehiogu (extract below from the London Football Guide at the time):

WEMBLEY v HENDON (Saturday 28 July, 3pm)
The Lions have recently spent an unusual amount of time in the national football headlines for a Combined Counties League club. This is primarily down to their sponsorship by a large beer company who have decided to pump in a few quid and provide/saddle them with a load of former international players who are well past their prime for their FA Cup games. None of them will therefore be on playing duty on Saturday when Wembley take on tenants Hendon. The Greens are the more senior club, playing two divisions above in the Ryman Premier, and were one of the better sides in the division last season. Come and see if they have a squad to challenge for promotion again. Tickets: no information as yet, unlikely to be more than a fiver.

More photographs, courtesy of Rob Campion Sports Photography, from Vale Farm, this time when a groundhopper visited for the SSML Premier Division fixture against Berkhamsted on a cold Saturday 17 March 2018, Berkhamsted won 3-1 and went on to win promotion to the Southern League that 2017/18 season, finishing second to Welwyn Garden City. Zaied Sabti netted a second half consolation goal for Wembley with Berkhamsted already 3-0 ahead at the break, see a match report:

The Journey Of Wembley FC, Episode 5, Terry Venables doesn't pull his punches with Ian Bates does he, the project wasn't just 'a giggle' for Terry and he took it seriously:

Savagebee- Here is Episode 6 of The Journey Of Wembley FC, it's absolutely addictive watching isn't it, it's not often Ian Bates is lost for words and put firmly in his place although, to be fair, it's Terry Venables we're talking about:
