Sadly, I don't think we can hold out too much hope for London Lions this evening at Rowley Lane, Chelmsford City have an exceptionally good Under 18's side as part of their recently launched Academy in partnership with the local Moulsham High School where the Club 'hand picks' talented youngsters and nurtures them along. The Academy was largely the brainchild of Director of Football at Chelmsford City, Club President and former Chairman Paul Hopkins who bleeds claret and who's late Father was also Chairman of the Club, three generations of the family have played at the old New Writtle Street stadium that you could always see from the train on the right heading towards Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich. Hopefully the once great Club, who regularly applied for Football League status back in the day and failed, are on the way back which will please their biggest fan, Chelmsford born and bred BBC broadcaster Caroline Barker, former host of the original Non League Show:

FA Youth Cup Second Qualifying Round

London Lions v Chelmsford City (Wed 7 Oct)

Yes, as expected no problems for Chelmsford City who are expected to go a long way in the competition however, to their huge credit, London Lions led twice at 1-0 and 2-1 and conceded two late goals to make it look worse than it was:

London Lions 3 Chelmsford City 6

London Lions lineup:

1 Josh Pamensky, 2 Ben Werter, 4 Zack Francis, 6 Matt Cohen, 3 Ethan Myers, 8 Daniel Misrahi (C), 9 David Abitan, 10 Max Davis, 11 Freddie Land, 17 Sammy Garcia, 7 Ben Barnett

Subs: 12 Noah Graft, 14 Ezra Aaron, 15 Jason Burns, 16 Dylan Phillips, 5 Sam Goldberg, 13 Jacob, Miller

Winslow United v Rothwell Corinthians (Thur 8 Oct)

Hopefully Winslow United can progress to the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup this week

A brief Sport Shots preview on this evening's tie at Elmfields Gate, Rothwell Corinthians reached this stage by beating Peterborough Sports 3-2 at home in the Preliminary Round and then, fortuitously, received a walkover in the First Qualifying Round when Northampton O.N. Chenecks could not fulfil the tie, I believe they are quite a decent team but hopefully Winslow United can make home advantage tell:

Latest scores at the interval, not sure why the tie at AFC Dunstable was postponed:

FA Youth Cup Second Qualifying Round

Leverstock Green 0 Wealdstone 1

AFC Dunstable P Newport Pagnell Town

Winslow United 3 Rothwell Corinthians 1

I hope I'm not tempting fate but if Winslow United can hold on to their 3-1 lead they will host AFC Dunstable or Newport Pagnell Town in the 3rd Qualifying Round, Leverstock Green would host Bromley or Faversham Town but that is not looking too hopeful at the moment.

Just some mention on Wealdstone's Forum of the tie but no match report, you can sense their huge relief to get through:

This evening's two FA Youth Cup First Qualifying Round results and Second Qualifying Round draw involving the remaining four SSML Club's:

Newport Pagnell Town 5 Hitchin Town 2

Second Qualifying Round draw (ties w/c Mon 5 Oct)

AFC Dunstable v Newport Pagnell Town

Newport Pagnell Town have been expelled from the competition and Hitchin Town re-instated due to player irregularities, that must have been why the AFC Dunstable tie was postponed last week pending investigation. It just leaves Winslow United representing the SSML who, coincidentally, will host the winners of the AFC Dunstable v Hitchin Town tie in the Third Qualifying Round if they are awarded the Rothwell Corinthians tie where they were leading 6-1 with half an hour left to play.

FA YOUTH CUP
We have been reinstated in the FA Youth Cup after Newport Pagnell were thrown out because they played a player against us who was suspended. We will now travel to AFC Dunstable on Thursday 15 October.

Yes Rothwell have forfeited the tie, if it had been a close game I’m sure they would’ve wanted to replay it but they didn’t want to come over again and that’s fair enough.

Winslow Boy - Thanks, you are spot on, the AFC Dunstable v Hitchin Town tie is on Thursday at Creasey Park and Winslow United host the winners on Thursday 22 October. Do you think they can do what Buckingham Athletic did in reaching the First Round against Northampton Town in 2017/18 or possibly even Broxbourne Borough getting to the Fifth Round the season before and finally losing at Villa Park, I still don't know how they managed to achieve that under Manager Roy Bleau:

Winslow United entertain Hitchin Town in the FA Youth Cup Third Qualifying Round next week who beat AFC Dunstable 2-0 last night, they will have to watch their near post if Hitchin get a free kick in a similar position just outside the box:

A match report on Hitchin Town's 2-0 win at AFC Dunstable last week, should Winslow United be successful on Thursday evening at Elmfields Gate in the Third Qualifying Round tie, and there's no reason why they shouldn't be, they will host Charlton Athletic in the First Round proper:

https://hitchintownfc.club/weekly-bulletin-17th-oct/

FA YOUTH CUP DRAW
Hitchin will be away to Winslow in the third qualifying round which will take place next Thursday. There is a big incentive for our youngsters because if they win they will be at home to Charlton Athletic in the first round proper.

It won't be easy this evening for Winslow United against Hitchin Town's 'Prodirect Academy' side however you have to ask how they were beaten 5-2 by Newport Pagnell Town at Willen Road in a First Qualifying Round tie although, as we know, the result was later overturned and Hitchin Town re-instated in the competition. Admitedly Hitchin Town had a player sent off just before the interval when only 2-1 down and were still in the game at 3-2 before Newport Pagnell Town netted on 77 and 83 minutes however they haven't exactly been pulling up trees in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League Nemean Division this season, and have yet to win, whereas Hitchin Town players regularly rub shoulders with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Stevenage and Milton Keynes Dons:
