I remember Cardiff fans trying to get into the home end at Wexham Park. I thought at the time, were little old Slough (not exactly Swansea). Never liked that club from that point onwards...

On the way back on the Slough coach from one of our Conference matches up North [can't remember what team we were playing] we stopped at the services on the M1 and Cardiff fans on another coach tried starting trouble with the Slough fans, and another set of fans from another team[can't recall who] when we were about to go into the services. Pain in the arses they are. Yet Cardiff on a international rugby match - no bother at all and a great day out usually had by all.

I  am pretty much a newbie

My first match was away to Daventry five or six years ago

Daventry equalised in the last seconds of injury time

I was so frustrated because in that league they did not show or say how much injury time was to be played

Referee seemed to want to play on until they eventually scored

Did not go to Beaconsfield first home match was obviously against Hampton and Richmond at Arbour Park

Daventry had quite a good team at one time. I liked their ground and they were challenging Slough for the title, when Steve Bateman was our manager. I thought Liam Dolman their centre half/captain was a good player. He now plays for AFC Rushden and Diamonds. They also had a useful midfielder called Adam Confue, don't know where he has ended up or if he is even playing now. Must Google him.

Is Dolman still playing?

If I remember rightly he was an immovable object built a like a tank.

The atmosphere on the covered terrace below the main stand at the Dolphin was "something else" for the big FA and Amateur Cup games as anyone who stood there will testify. No crush barriers and no obvious limit on numbers. Not sure my feet touched the ground during the first Skelmersdale game which we might have won if anyone had managed to prevent the opposing supporters from encroaching right up to the goal line we were defending in the second half.

(KGB) your right the atmosphere in that stand was unbelievable big crowds on the big match days evening games were brilliant to.

The discussion last week on here about the history of Maidenhed and were they a bigger club than Slough have they ever had those big fa and amateur cup games and there ground would never of had that atmosphere that was generated at the Dolphin the one thing we are missing at Arbour Park.

Just imagine if we played Rochdale there on a tuesday night wow what a different game that could of been.

It was a cold night on 1st October 2002....Slough were at home to AFC Totton in an FA Cup 2nd qualifying round replay. I went with a mate -  Tom Attrell - whose Nan got us in for free as she worked in the kitchens at Wexham Park.

I decided to follow the Rebels through that FA Cup run, right up until we lost to Harrogate Railway in the first round. By that point I was hooked....

I remember the first person we saw when arriving was Dave Programmes, he came up to me and was like "Hi Mate, so good to see you again, welcome back, what do you think about tonights game then?".....as a 14 year old I didn't think much of it at the time but looking back you realise what characters we have had and still have that makes STFC what it is......:D

That Harrogate Railway game still haunts me now when I think about it.

I remember going into that game thinking, easy draw (in my younger less cautious / respectful to other teams days).

I thought, this team from up north, long journey, lower league than us, were at home, should be fine.

Gutted at the end. I always remember they had this big fella up front (Wayne Rooney esk) and he may have scored two goals, but if not, had a good game.

Seeing them celebrate on the pitch with thier small number (albeit quite a good turn out) outside the dugouts was gutting for me to see.

Cant remember (without looking) who they played next round and if it was the 2nd round which would have meant in draw with big boys (could have been 1st round)….

Was that 'big ears or big head' Wayne Rooney esk  ?

And quite a few years later when I was managing a Cheltenham team, it came out in conversation that my centre back was Edward "Sid" Neale, who just happened to be the goal keeper for Harrogate RA at the time. He sent me the youtube link to his heroics against Bristol City as confirmation. Needless to say I dropped him for our next game...
