Friendlies

I know the club haven't all the information, on how attendances/fans will be controlled[because of coronavirus] when 20/21 league season gets underway.

What I'm puzzled by, though, is why our 6 friendlies need to be played behind closed doors? I get it if it is for higher opposition but I don't get it, if it is for some team like Burnham, Beaconsfield or Windsor, as so few fans turn up for these type of games normally, that surely social distancing could be maintained if you made the games limited to say 200 fans[both teams], on a first come first served basis. That way each club could earn some money from it.

I was hoping to go and see S/S/Marine friendlies only to find they are all played behind closed doors W/Bassett friendlies start in August but not sure if you can watch

October is a long way of to see a game that.s only if things get better.

Yes,SD, I just watched a video with Haydn Bird [Kingstonian manager], he was hopeful that some teams may be able to play some friendlies in front of fans in September, all things being well. Let's hope so.

Because the government say so, we are classed as elite football, and a per Boris statement fans in grounds at elite sports will be at the earliest October.

It will hurt clubs all over the place, for example those teams that get a pay day I.e Bognor always have a big crowd v Pompey, same with Boreham Wood v Arsenal.

Even us for example we planned to go to a community day at Binfield, which would have been really helpful for them in terms of people through the gates etc.

Sorry Neil about my post, when I wrote it I didn't realise every non-league club's friendlies are affected. Mind you some of the Government's legislation is absurd, how can standing in the outdoors watching football [if social distancing is enforced] be worse than going in shops? !

Can't stand in the fresh air but can congregate in pubs and bars, unbelievable.

Congregate by definition "to collect together in a body or crowd".

That is exactly what is not allowed in pubs and bars which are required to have sociallly distanced tables and discourage customers from standing at the bar except for one customer at a time coming up to the bar to be served.

Of course that happens in all the bars and pubs up and down the country.

You've only got read social media to know that there are some people who either think the virus is now over or the government have greatly exaggerated the virus and number of deaths or they think it's all been a big hoax.

RR : I can only speak from my personal experience in The Garibaldi in Hedsor and The Swan in Iver. From what I read an hear, I feel that most pubs and bars are complying with the government guidelines. It's in everybody's interest.

Of course most are complying just like most of the general public are but it's the ones that don't give a fig and carry on as normal that are the problem.

I think cinemas are back with mask wearing required & about 25% capacity, so unless there is a second wave of infections I would think early October and our first proper match is probably a realistic expectation for fans attending, but wouldn’t be surprised to see strict measures needing to be followed & 25% capacity.

There might need to be a one way walking system around the pitch and limited access to toilets & the inside bar & catering areas.

But that might be the new normal for football fans for a while.

I have a horrible feeling that fans will not be allowed to attend away games, and that home matches will be restricted to season ticket holders only. Which means the regulars should be OK, but

any floating support will miss out. I guess if we sell 500 season tickets all the regulars will get in to AP. Lets see.
