George Wells

Going by Twitter it would seem that we can add George Wells' name to the ever-growing list of departures. The nucleus of the best Slough team I've seen in my 21 years of following the Rebels all gone in a day ?

My best wishes to Simon Dunn, Scott Davies, Supermanny and Wellsey (maybe an admin should merge these threads?)

A shame to see 4 brilliant players leave the club but such is the evolution of football, to be honest, the squad probably needed freshening up after 3 great years with what has been a very settled team, its the only way to improve.

Maybe this could see a formation change to 3-5-2, Warren and Max would make excellent wing backs.

To be honest, if we started next season like this I wouldn't be disheartened at all:

Turner

Hollis Bird Jackman

Harris L.Togwell Lench S.Togwell Worsfold

Harris Roberts

Not Maiden**** please

Sad to see George Wells leave, as he has been one of our best players since he joined Slough but if he was to go to Maidenhead, I wouldn't mind if Slough could replace him with their left back, Rene Steer!

We probably couldn't afford his wages.

Haven't a clue about that but he is a very good left back and an experienced player. Been at Maidenhead a while now, so might fancy a change.

One thing that is noticeable about our squad is that we could do with some younger players. Rene Steer wouldn't fit that bill as he's about 30, I  think but is certainly no mug at our level.

In this league, you need experienced players in the main but some of our play could do with speeding up, hence why I think we could do with some youngblood to lower the average age of the team.

I think George has great potential but he’s far from the finished article yet. Hope he doesn’t end up regretting leaving too early and has a quality club to move to . Going forward he is exceptional but still a lot to learn as a defender, Watch the videos of our early season games and see how many goals we conceded from the left !  Don’t begrudge anyone wanting to advance but think he could have done with another season at this level to improve his defensive qualities .  Anyway complete trust  that Bakes and Unders will have a quality replacement in mind .

Unfortunately it's the modern day full back, better going forward than defending.

I thought Hampton's left back Ruaridh Donaldson looked a good player last season. He might be an exception but I thought he looked better defending than he did attacking.
