END OF SEASON 2019-2020 SUMMARY

Our Director of Football Cipri gives us a summary on his 1st season at HBFC.

I want to start this by saying thank you to everyone for the unforgettable season 2019-2020. It was a season with lots of ups and downs.

 

When I came to the club in February 2019 our 1st priority was to reduce the fines and restore the reputation Hillingdon had at that time.
Beginning of 2019-2020 we sat down and set some realistic targets for the season. We have started the season very positive with a successful trial where we had over 50 players attending for a spot in our 1st team squad and collaborating with other clubs around us bringing players on loan.

Lets look at some of the achievements we had in the 2019-2020 season:
-Round 2 in FA Vase
-Winners of Respect team of the month October 2019
-Team of the month NOVEMBER 2019
-Reduce fines with over 70% compared to 2018-2019 seasons.
-Respect league Winners Hillingdon Borough (best in division AND league for no sin bins) (also note up from 19th last season)
-Special Award Hillingdon Borough best respect record in the league no sin bins.
-Red cards 0, Sin Bins 0, Yellow Cards 45

Looking back to what we have achieved together, makes me very honoured to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of people. It was a difficult season for us but our admin team has done an incredible and impossible work, to make sure everything is done right and this couldn’t have been achieved without the hard work that Dee/Reece/Julia/Ben/Aqeel.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the people who have been close to us and helped us when we were in need of help. Everyone from Middlesex FA, Spartan South Midlands League, Danny (Manager Uxbridge Fc), Mark (Manager Marlow Fc), Tony Choules (Manager Egham Town FC), Craig (Social Media support) and many more that have been part of our journey last season. A massive thank you to all of our sponsors for supporting us and standing behind us through difficult times and happy times.

Now we are looking forward to a great future where we can build on what we have achieved so far. In the next weeks we will announce our strategy within the FA guidelines for the coming season. Now is time to work on what is ahead of us. “Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.”

Yes he played for them in the 2006/07 season they were a Step 4 club then.

Savagebee beat me to the punch, I was about to start a new thread on Hillingdon Borough with these photographs from a 2015/16 SSML Division One Cup Second Round tie at Risborough Rangers Horsenden Lane on Tuesday 20 October 2015, Hillingdon Borough won 2-1 on the night but exited the competition in the Quarter Finals to Broadfields United:

Somewhat after the Lord Mayors Show but photographs from a 2007/2008 FA Trophy Preliminary Round tie between Slough Town and Hillingdon Borough, at Holloways Park on Saturday 6 October 2007, resulting in a 1-1 draw with Hillingdon Borough winning the replay 2-1 after extra time the following Tuesday, Hillingdon were a Southern League Division One South & West Club then. Slough Town took the lead on 36 minutes through a spot kick however Sam Byfield equalised on 74 minutes to take the game back to the Middlesex Stadium where again Byfield equalised before Leon Nelson netted a minute from the end of extra time:

Again after the Lord Mayors Show but some photographs from a 2007/08 FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay between Hillingdon Borough and Enfield Town, at the Middlesex Stadium on Tuesday 2 October 2007, after an exciting 2-2 draw at Goldsdown Road. Hillingdon Borough, who were a Southern League Division One South & West Club then following their SSML heroics in 2005/06, won 2-1 and progressed to find Isthmian League Premier Division side Folkestone Invicta a bit too good in the Third Qualifying Round, losing 1-0 in Kent:

Photographs from the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie between Enfield Town and Hillingdon Borough, at Goldsdown Road on Saturday 29 September 2007, resulting in a pulsating 2-2 stalemate. Hillingdon Borough had progressed by beating Barking after a replay and penalties in the Preliminary Round and narrowly beat Northampton Spencer 1-0 in the First Qualifying Round at the Middlesex Stadium:

Found an old programme between Hillingdon Borough and Telford United from the 1975/76 campaign in the Southern League Premier Division, Hillingdon Borough had just been promoted from the Southern League Division One South and finished a respectable twelfth that season with Wimbledon winning the Championship, the season after their FA Cup heroics when drawing 0-0 at Elland Road in a Fourth Round tie and narrowly losing a replay 1-0 at Selhurst Park. Hillingdon Borough plied their trade at the Leas Stadium (see link) at that time, not moving to their current home, the Middlesex Stadium, until 1990 following some turbulent years in their history:

Photographs from Hillingdon Borough v Enfield Town, at the Middlesex Stadium on 10 November 2009, in a 2009/10 Middlesex Senior Cup First Round tie. Enfield Town won 2-1 against a Hillingdon Borough side in decline following the departure of Saint like Manager Steve Ringrose, the Club were back in the SSML after four seasons away having been relegated from the Isthmian League Division One North the season before finishing bottom with just sixteen points:

Enfield Town v Hillingdon Borough again, this time at Goldsdown Road on Saturday 17 January 2009, in a 2008/09 Ryman League Division One North fixture. Enfield Town unsurprisingly won 3-0 with Hillingdon Borough in free fall and on their way back to the SSML at the end of that miserable campaign that gleaned just four League wins against Tilbury, Waltham Forest and Witham Town at home and Chatham Town away who were inexplicably in the Ryman League Division One North for that one campaign:

Sorry folks, guess what two teams and the reverse 2008/09 Ryman League Division One North fixture between Hillingdon Borough and Enfield Town, at the Middlesex Stadium on Tuesday 23 September 2008, Enfield Town won 4-1 with Jerry Lyons scoring Hillingdon Borough's consolation goal from the penalty spot near the end:

Surprise surprise, Hillingdon Borough v Enfield Town again, this time in a delayed 2007/08 Middlesex FA Senior Charity Cup Final played on Tuesday 12 August 2008 at Church Road in Hayes. Enfield Town won 4-1 after extra time with the score 1-1 at 90 minutes, the second time the Club had lifted the impressive trophy in its history as Enfield Town although Enfield had won it before albeit not since the 1961/62 campaign, I believe it has only been in Hillingdon Borough's trophy cabinet the one time when they won it in their 1977/78 heyday:
