Real Bedford Ladies travel the short distance to Biggleswade United Ladies tomorrow (Sunday 16 February) afternoon in the Semi Final of the Bedfordshire FA County Senior Cup. The Ladies were fortunate to receive a bye in the First Round (Quarter Finals) of the competition however Real Bedford Ladies Reserves were beaten 1-0 by Biggleswade United Ladies in a tight affair at Kempston Rovers Hillgrounds Road ground on Sunday 19 January so the Senior team can, and should, gain sweet revenge on their behalf against the lowly Eastern Region Women's League Division One North side:

Half time at the Ledger Stadium and no problems thus far for Rob Sinclair's men against Enfield FC with goals from Drew Richardson and Josh Setchell:

Yes, no difficulties for Real Bedford on Saturday, overcoming Enfield FC 3-1 to move three points clear of Berkhamsted at the summit of the Southern League Division One Central table with a game in hand and a far superior goal difference. See highlights from the live stream, the match report, local press coverage and the match programme:

Yes, you're not seeing things folks, Real Bedford Ladies beat Biggleswade United Ladies 8-0 yesterday in the Semi Final of the Bedfordshire FA County Senior Cup and will take on 'old foes' Luton Town Ladies in the Final of the competition, date and venue still to be confirmed. The tie was switched to the Stratton Upper School in Biggleswade on a 3g surface and there were some clinical goals, including a Leyla O'Brien hat trick, giving the Ladies sweet revenge on behalf of Real Bedford Ladies Reserves who were beaten by the Eastern Region Women's League Division One North side in the First Round, see a match report:

Winslow Boy - Yes, what a turn up for the books, I know it wasn't exactly Arsenal and Walsall in 1933, Newcastle v Hereford in 1972, Coventry v Sutton in 1989 or Arsenal v Wrexham in 1992 but, even so, fair play to St Neots Town who weren't at all daunted at visiting the Ledger Stadium and came away with the 3-2 win. As Greavsie once said 'it's a funny old game' or Fergie 'football, bloody hell', see some match reports:

Going back to early August, just before the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie with St Neots Town at the Ledger Stadium, I don't believe we saw this interesting interview with boss Rob Sinclair, it's a good insight into the great man:

Bedford Town boss Lee Bircham was a guest on Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show yesterday (Monday 17 February) evening and it was an interesting listen where the proposed merger of Bedford Town and Real Bedford was concerned, fast forward to 24 minutes into the show. Lee confirms that nothing is set in stone or going to happen with the merger until next season so there is still time for it to all fall through or for 'the blazers' at Football Association (FA) not to sanction the merger which is presumably a strong likelihood:

I can't think of any instances offhand where the FA haven't sanctioned 2 clubs merging? They even let Wimbledon relocate to MK, so I'd be surprised if they stopped 2 clubs next door to each other combining.

What would be the primary driver for the FA to deny a merger? I don't know the intricacies or history of such events. Just seems like it's very likely to go that way from the outside looking in

I don't think they will deny it.

As can't see what grounds they would deny it on. The Directors of both clubs seem to be in favour, so I don't know what grounds the FA would block it on.

Magic number for promotion is down to 34 for the men and 18 for the lady pirates. Things are shaping up nicely after a couple of draws for Berkhamsted. Hopefully we can keep surging and leave no doubt in the coming weeks.

March 31 seems to be a key date re the merger, so not long now:

A Deed of Agreement, which shall be legally binding on all parties must be submitted to The Association by 31st March in the year immediately following receipt of the merger application.

It's been with the FA for nearly 2 months already (the application) and not been turned down yet.
