Went to the game today. Good win for Real. Very good game for a tenner. Winning goal was brilliant.

Devastating news coming out of Bedford Town, football not that important in these circumstances. Star striker Leon Lobjoit's new-born daughter has tragically passed away. Just terrible.

Absolutely tragic. Father of three and couldn't imagine anything worse. Thoughts to him and his.

Real B will be favourites to win at home to Leighton Town in the next round of the Trophy and with the draw being regionalised and not shown live, the bods at the FA would surely be tempted to draw Real Bedford and Bedford Town out of the hat together.

Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show this evening (Monday 9 September), between 6.00 and 7.00, will include a feature on Real Bedford, presumably relating to Saturday's excellent FA Trophy First Qualifying Round win at Isthmian League North Division Walthamstow:

LondonEagle - How do you come to that conclusion, I would have preferred the tie to be at Bell Close with the 'pressure off' as Club's seem to raise their game at the Ledger Stadium such as Tring Athletic last season and St Neots Town and Welwyn Garden City so far this season:

Somewhat of a surprise two dropped points for Real Bedford Ladies in their hard fought, 'rough and tumble', FA Women's National League Division One South East fixture with Chatham Town Ladies at the Ledger Stadium last Sunday (8 September) that saw Chiara Meola unceremoniously dismissed from the field on fifty minutes by a pernickety Official, see a match report, the match programme and highlights from the live stream:

You couldn't make it up or write it could you, Real Bedford Ladies have drawn the short straw and have to travel all the way to South Wales for their next tie in the FA Women's National League Cup (First Round) against Gwalia United, on Sunday 29 September:

LondonEagle - There is talk of the tie being switched to the Friday (20 September) or Sunday (22 September) with Bedford Town at home to Redditch United on the Saturday, what do you think:

I think the stated goal this season is to cover every home match for both the men and womens squads and totally miss the road tilts. Unfortunately, the expense and hassle of the road contests became too much to cover. Perhaps they'll go the extra mile to make it work on the finishing kick of a season if promotion is a possibility. I definitely feel a little less connected with the mens team as s a result but I have to say it has been a lot of fun to engage more with the women's team, at large. The match at QPR made the bigger objectives of both clubs feel a lot more real.

RallyInRaleigh - It would appear that the next livestream is the Ladies home FA Women's National League Division One South East fixture against Cambridge United Ladies on Wednesday 25 September so no livestream of Saturday's (14 September) visit to Leverstock Green in the Southern League Division One Central or the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round tie with Leighton Town the following week (21 September), or indeed, for that matter, and strangely, the Ladies next FA Women's National League Division One South East fixture against AFC Sudbury Ladies at the Ledger Stadium on Sunday 22 September so the plot thickens doesn't it. You would have thought that if pernickety obstacles are being put in the Club's way by 'blazers' or 'jobsworths' for whatever reason Mr McCormack would just bang the table and everything would be resolved in the Club's favour, he doesn't suffer fools gladly does he:

Confirmed now as being moved to Friday night.

Should be a good crowd. Makes sense as some locals may want to go to both, it's a big game cup game for Real B and the following day is scheduled to be the first game at the redeveloped Eyrie, which was also be expecting a big crowd, so keeping the games separate will also ease parking congestion.

Also hoping Real beat Leighton as that would give a great chance of a Real/Town derby in the following round.

Would be more spicy than if it's a Beds Senior Cup Tie , if it's in the FA Trophy.

Obviously quite likely to be a league fixture next season, but a one-off Cup game would still be more spicy than 2 league games.

Let's get ready to rumble then, see the impressive match programme from Pancake Lane compared to last season's effort in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division:

Could Bedford Town not move their fixture with Redditch United to the Friday night out of courtesy and respect for Real Bedford as the attendance is going to be bigger at the Ledger Stadium than at the redeveloped Eyrie isn't it:

Real Bedford Ladies are surprisingly left twiddling their thumbs and kicking their heels tomorrow (Sunday 15 September) afternoon however entertain AFC Sudbury Ladies in a winnable looking FA Women's FA Women's National League Division One South East fixture the following Sunday (22 September).

Jesus Christ Rhodes, no it's probably isn't.

Tried to be civil to you but you really are incredibly tedious.

Bedford Blues Rugby are also at home on Saturday and I know one Real Bedford fan who supports both and would have gone to watch the Blues if the Real game hadn't been moved to Friday bight.

Perhaps the 2 clubs have had an amicable discussion between them and agreed on the Fri/Saturday dates?

Or maybe you just want to stir up some shit for no reason?

I also know some Luton mates in Bedford who will go and watch the Real game Friday, adding to the crowd - as on Saturday they are going to watch Luton at home.

Will be a big crowd at Real and also a big crowd at The Eyrie on Saturday for the opening of their £1m+ new facilities.

Maybe both clubs would get along better without people like you constantly shit-stirring?

Both sides of the impressive 3-0 win at Leverstock Green yesterday and some highlights from the action, avenging last season's 2-1 Spartan South Midlands Premier Division defeat there:

Here's one for LondonEagle if he hasn't already listened to it, Bedford Town boss Lee Bircham was featured on a recent Andy Collins BBC Three Counties Radio Show, it's interesting that Lee didn't say a single word about Real Bedford when asked the burning question "what about Bedford as a town, it's a big place, it could have a really successful football team", that absolutely says it all doesn't it:

LondonEagle - Don't you think you have over reacted ever so slightly to my post as I was merely speculating as to why Bedford Town couldn't play on the Friday night, I wasn't stirring at all or playing devil's advocate. Real Bedford's FA Trophy tie with Leighton Town is by far the more attractive fixture of the two and will have the bigger attendance, even on the Friday evening, Redditch United aren't very well supported away from home whereas Leighton Town will bring hordes to the Ledger Stadium.

Apologies if I did overreact but you said Bedford Town should offer to play on the Friday.

But unlikely Redditch would agree to that as they have far further to travel.

An opening of the new facilities will attract a big crowd at the Eyrie, so I wouldn't be certain of the Real v Leighton crowd being higher. If it's advertised well enough then the Eyrie game might attract groundhoppers, who will likely have ticked off Ledger Stadium already since there were last any significant upgrades.

Would expect maybe 500 for the Leighton game and unlikely Bedford Town will get less than that v Redditch.

This is interesting.

Luton potentially 3 years away from moving from a 12k stadium to a 25k one.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2kgk485e7o

The biggest reason it's hard for Bedford to have a really successful team is because there's a lot of Luton fans in Bedford and it's only 20 mins on the train and you can walk to the ground in no time from the train station (the new ground will be even closer to train station).

Last season when Luton were in Prem tickets were like gold dust, so undoubtedly some who could not get tickets went to watch local non-league football instead.

When they double their capacity then they will attract support from all over Bedfordshire. Simply put, there probably isn't enough football fans to sustain top level football at Luton, MK and Bedford with them all being so close to one another, plus the multitude of other local non-league clubs and people who choose just to support the big boys in the Prem.

Did we see this fairly recent interview with Mr McCormack, I don't believe it has been posted previously:

Peter McCormack is an interesting character.  He admits his first encounter with Bitcoin was to buy drugs and has turned that encounter into running one of the largest Bitcoin podcasts in the world, called "What Bitcoin Did" (WhatBitcoinDid.com)  On this episode of The Your Life! Your Terms! Show we go behind the scenes of Peter's life, the growth of the Podcast and how his involvement with Bitcoin led him to purchase Real Bedford FC, invest in a local Bedford bar and now a Bedford cafe.
