Real Bedford Ladies take on Needham Market Ladies on Sunday (4 February) afternoon at their Bloomfields base, kick off 2.00pm. Royston Town Ladies have now taken over as the nearest challengers following a very impressive seven successive Eastern Region Women's League Premier Division victories since losing 4-1 at McMullen Park in early October thanks to a superb hat trick from, who else, Natasha Fensome:

LondonEagle - I assume that you will be signing the ePetition currently on the Bedford Borough Council website 😉:

https://councillorsupport.bedford.gov.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?ID=1103&RPID=53661145&HPID=53661145&$LO$=1

We the undersigned petition the council to Renew the lease of Real Bedford FC at McMullen Park.
• We the undersigned petition the council to: Save Real Bedford FC by renewing our ground leases.
• Real Bedford Football Club (Real Bedford) play at McMullen Park, which is comprised of the two land titles leased from Bedford Borough Council. Real Bedford need new leases by the start of April 2024 at the latest, or our immediate survival as a football club is at risk. Real Bedford commenced negotiations with the Council on a new lease in April 2022. A draft lease was agreed with Council officers and Heads of Terms were signed by Real Bedford in July 2023. However, Real Bedford have yet to receive any formal confirmation that the leases will be granted. The alternative sites Real Bedford have been offered are not viable. Our demise will hurt ladies and youth football in the town, as well as significant investment in new facilities and wider economic benefits.
This ePetition runs from 20/01/2024 to 02/03/2024.

I wonder whether the crate of Dom Pérignon champagne has arrived at Pancake Lane as yet from Manor Fields following Leverstock Green's surprise 2-1 win over Real Bedford on Saturday, see a match report and highlights from Leverstock Green:

No difficulties yesterday for Real Bedford Ladies with a 3-1 win over Needham Market Ladies, see a match report, their lead at the summit of the Eastern Region Women's League Premier Division is extended to thirteen points with a game in hand following Royston Town Ladies surprise 1-1 draw with Barking Ladies at Garden Walk:

Leverstock played great and deserved the win on Saturday. Pirates going to need to regain form in a hurry. I'm honestly happy they've got a couple of cup games in the next handful of games so that they can get it dialed back in for the league campaign. Irish now lead the PPG race.

Here we go folks, this week's Spartan Talk Podcast, put out shortly after Saturday's matches and featuring no other than Real Bedford Chairman Peter McCormack. Initially Mr MrCormack briefly discusses Saturday's disappointing result at Leverstock Green after eight minutes of the show but then talks at length about the Club and the current situation after 54 minutes of the show:

Stevenage FC Ladies and 'feared' Wroxham Ladies are also through to the Semi Finals of the competition with St Albans City Ladies and Luton Town Ladies still to play their Quarter Final tie on Sunday 4 February

The draw for the Semi Finals of the Eastern Region Women's League Cup sees Real Bedford Ladies travel to Luton Town Ladies, the tie will take place on Sunday 3 March, kick off 1.30pm. The two sides meet prior to that, on Sunday 25 February, also at Luton's Sharpenhoe Road ground, in a League fixture with last season's Premier Division runners up surprisingly off the pace this season in sixth place albeit with games in hand:

They ought to play the semi at Kenilworth Road, would get a big crowd in!

It would be nice but unlikely, Real Bedford and Luton Town Ladies have yet to meet this season in the League so if Luton, in the unlikely event, win those two games and their three games in hand they would only be three points behind 😉

Real Bedford Ladies travel to Stevenage Ladies on Sunday (11 February) for an interesting looking Eastern Region Women's League Premier Division clash, the fixture is being played at the salubrious Hertfordshire FA County Ground in Letchworth (pictured) so with a state of the art artificial playing surface there is thankfully no danger of a postponement:

You couldn't make it up if you tried could you, Real Bedford Ladies Eastern Region Women's League Premier Division fixture with Stevenage Ladies was postponed yesterday, apparently it was switched to McMullen Park at the twelfth hour but too late for the necessary arrangements to be put in place to host the game as such short notice:

Game Off - unfortunately due to adverse weather and a waterlogged pitch our game has now been called off.

Fast forward to six minutes and twenty seconds of this Club update with Dunstable Town's Anthony Christophi who previews last Saturday's SSML Premier Division Cup Second Round tie at Creasey Park, Anthony is very nice chap and a good Coach and is very complimentary about Rob Sinclair's men, indeed they have worked together previously:
