Slough v Dartford (play-off quarter final)

Recommended Posts

Great season bakes@unders and 1st class team just fell short today but onwards and upwards.

How you have to play a big game without the supporters cheering and singing you all on such a big miss for us all.

Well done Darford now go and beat Havant

Enjoy the break looking forward to next season already.

Oh to see two Delaney.s in the crowd.

Given that we finished above Dartford I think we were better than them all season points wise.

First half hardly any difference between the sides but once the crucial first goal went in we fizzled out then Dartford had a spring in their step and took charge of the game.

As you say learn from the experience and come back stronger next season.

Do you think we'll be ready as a club to get promotion next season?

From my point of view, we are short of a few players to take us up, and to be able to stay up. I don't mean to be detrimental to the players we currently have,as I think they have served us well so far and if anything, have over achieved on where I thought they would be this season.

The good thing is we have done well in the Conference South without shelling out too much. The team spirit and comaderie in our camp is excellent and so I wouldn't make wholesale changes for next season. To me it would be wiser to just bring in a couple of new faces for the start of next season and then make the odd change through the season, if needed. Obviously this will depend on if any of our better players receive offers from other clubs, and how many of the current squad look for pastures new.

I don't see next season as a must for promotion, although I expect most Slough supporters will. I think we should be planning to build a stronger outfit over the next two or three seasons. To me I would like to see us tweak how we go about playing, as this season a lot of our play revolved around containing opposition, rather than dominating sides through enterprising play. I certainly think we shouldn't rush changing what we do but we do need a boost to what our attacking play is offering. This will need to be an evolution, not a revolution.

Another forward for me is needed, as Ryan Bird's stint upfront has ended, the mercurial talent of Manny Williams looks nearly over, and Paul Hodges has yet to settle in. Ben Harris isn't able to sustain many full matches, and Dan Roberts is likely to get snapped up by a bigger club sooner rather than later, so that will leave us rather sparse upfront.

Having Paul Hodges and Aaron Krul will be like having two new players in the squad for the start of next season but I would be looking for two other acquisitions, a strong powerful speedster forward, able to hold off a player and hold a ball up and also a midfielder/winger type who also has a good burst of speed, as that is something we've been lacking in for awhile.

Defence wise, I would wait on the outcome of Mark Nisbet but apart from him, we appear well covered in that department to have any recruitment concerns.

Strange winning 2-1 with only a couple minutes left and he gets sent off. Certainly got a short fuse.

The win was good.

I won't comment on Marc White.  Probably a 'red mist' day !!

Well it was paying £14,99 for all the games as they are repeated as well will watch Bath v Dorking tonight will re watch the Rebels game.

It must be said it may be sore for us at present but just think how Bath fc are feeling strong side at home as well.

Meant to say well worth paying £14.99.

3spirit will you be supporting Beaconsfield next season.

No,  I follow Slough, so they tend to be priority. However, I've not got a contract to only watch Slough Town FC, so if I want to watch Beaconsfield or whoever, I will !

Just read Unders report in maidenhead Advertiser just like Bakes interview with Ade they are so honest says it as it was no excuses and  congratulate the opposition on there win.

They put alot of premier league managers to shame these managers come out with excuses not saying it as it is everybody else is to blame for a defeat how many of them do you hear congratulate the opposition manager and team if beaten very few.
