Pitstone & Ivinghoe

Step 7 Club's have until 31 December to apply for promotion which I gather may be the case for Pitstone & Ivinghoe now approval of floodlighting has recently been given by the Parish Council, Club's must finish in the top five of their division and meet ground grading requirements to have a chance of promotion:

This may be of interest to Pitstone & Ivinghoe, they must still have a fair bit of work to do in order to make the Pitstone Recreation Ground Step 6 compliant although I gather, in addition to the new building pictured above which also includes a function suite, they have incorporated new changing facilities, a physiotherapy room, a turnstile and a footpath surrounding the playing area. Under their excellent Chairman Bob Beasley, who was featured on Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show recently, they seem to be a Club going places and resume their so far unblemished SSML Division Two campaign at Buckingham United tomorrow (12 December). Also tomorrow the Reserve side entertain Flitwick Town Reserves in a Bedfordshire County League Division One 'B' fixture following an excellent 3-2 win at Cranfield United Reserves last Saturday with goals from Ben Gallant, Izaak Larbi and Lewis Brooks:

Pitstone & Ivinghoe's first goal, by Albie Hall, in their hard fought 3-2 win at Buckingham United on Saturday 12 December was a lot like David Beckham against Greece at Old Trafford wasn't it. The Reserves Bedfordshire County League Division One 'B' fixture with Flitwick Town Reserves was unfortunatley called off on 12 December for Covid reasons, it would have been the first fixture taking place at the new facilities:

Thanks to Rhodes for all the coverage on Pitstone and Ivinghoe FC. I am the Club Treasurer and will update this thread over the weekend with all the developments and plans we have further to the completion of the Pavilion in November.

MarkRoberts - I thought you were going to return with an update on the Club's developments and plans, is the Pavillion not yet completed then. Perhaps that explains why your name is not on the 2020/21 list of applicants for promotion to Step 6, did you decide to give it another season in Division Two:

Some names to conjure with here, a match programme from Berkhamsted v Pitstone & Ivinghoe in a 2009/10 Anagram Records Feeder Leagues Trophy First Round tie, at Broadwater on Saturday 24 October 2009, and not the SSML Challenge Trophy. I wonder whether Berkhamsted's programme editor got the sack after the game which they won narrowly 2-1:

As we know the 2020/21 SSML season has been unceremoniously 'curtailed' as was officially announced by the FA last week that 'Steps 3-6 will be curtailed' although, in the case of the Bedfordshire County League, it has been declared null and void with no promotion or relegation taking place. The League are preparing to run end of season supplementary cup competitions across all its five divisions, these will commence on Saturday 10 April and run until Mid-May. That includes Division One 'B' where Pitstone & Ivinghoe Reserve's campaign came to an abrupt halt after just five League fixtures played having won two and lost three, their last outing was on Saturday 5 December when winning 3-2 at Cranfield United Reserves with Ben Gallant, Izaak Laarbi and Lewis Brooks getting the goals. Prior to that they hadn't played for five weeks when winning 5-0 at Pines (Luton) on Saturday 31 October with goals from Oliver Hubbard, Luke Williams, Samuel Budgen and a brace from Josh Setchell. Pitstone & Ivinghoe's First team meanwhile also completed five SSML Division Two League fixtures prior to the curtailment of the season however that only tells half the story as Danny Greany's men had won all five and sat in second place in the table with three games in hand of leaders Old Bradwell United. Their last outing was on Saturday 12 December when winning 3-2 at Buckingham United however prior to that they had not kicked a ball in anger for seven weeks when beating, then top of the table, Codicote 1-0 at the John Clements Memorial Ground on Saturday 24 October with Albie Hall scoring in the 89th minute (see match report):

Was anybody at this affair between Pitstone & Ivinghoe and, by the looks of it, a full strength Luton Town on Monday 21 March 1977, it was a benefit match for former Manager Alan Howson played at Cow Lane where Tring Town played at that time and I see the legendary Harry Haslam was then Manager of Luton Town. The following 1977/78 season the Club were accepted into the South Midlands League Division One from the Dunstable Alliance League having won the League and Cup double and winning the Reading Junior Cup in 1976/77:

Further to the above post, a team photograph of the all conquering 1976/77 Pitstone & Ivinghoe side who swept the board that season and rubbed shoulders with the likes of Ricky Hill, Paul Futcher, Jimmy Husband and John Aston, of Benfica v Manchester United 1968 fame, at Cow Lane on Monday 21 March 1977:

Pitstone & Ivinghoe Reserves lock horns with Lea Sports PSG, Pines (Luton) and St Josephs in Division One Group 2B of the Bedfordshire County League supplementary cup competition. Dates for the three group fixtures have yet to be confirmed, it's an even split with Lea Sports PSG and St Josephs from Division One 'A' and Pitstone & Ivinghoe Reserves and Pines (Luton) from Division One 'B' having already met on Saturday 31 October when Pitstone & Ivinghoe Reserves impressively won 5-0 with goals from Oliver Hubbard, Luke Williams, Samuel Budgen and a brace from Josh Setchell. Both Pines (Luton) and St Josephs are still engaged in the Quarter Finals of the Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Challenge Cup which may be to Pitstone & Ivinghoe's advantage however Lea Sports PSG will be favourites to win the group having topped Division One 'A' when an abrupt halt to the campaign was unfortunately called shortly before Christmas, winning five of their seven League fixtures:

We never heard back from Mark Roberts did we, it would be interesting to know what is going on at the Club and why they disappointingly decided against entering the SSML Spring Cup for Division Two Club's.
