Over 100 photographs from Baldock Town v Winslow United in a 2017/18 SSML Division One fixture, at Hitchin Road on Saturday 7 April 2018, Baldock Town won 2-0 on their way to promotion to the Premier Division finishing in second place to Champions Southall and only losing two League games all season, Winslow United finished a very respectable third:

Winslow Boy - This was the final 2017/18 Division One table and, as you said, another six points would have seen Winslow United promoted with Southall. You ended the campaign brilliantly with nine successive League wins since losing the above game 2-0 at Baldock Town on 7 April. Just before that there was a disappointing 3-2 defeat at London Lions where Thomas Brindley and Nicholas Farrow saw red and a 3-3 home draw with Harefield United although, to be fair, Harefield United missed a 93rd minute penalty, a better example is probably the 3-1 home defeat to Buckingham Athletic just before Christmas when Aaron King was dismissed:

Yeah, good examples of some disappointing slip ups there. Not sure we beat Broadfields that season either. The slows start to the season gave us a mountain to climb. Winslow were excellent that season though, scored lots of goals and the football was great. We would have just got over the line last season too and got promotion. This season it just hasn’t happened.

The club is delighted to announce our new management team as James Green and Jordan King. James has been coaching our MJPL and Southern Counties YFL sides and Jordan led Aston Clinton to success from 2015-2018. All at the club wish both James and Jordan success in their role!.

An interesting Sports Shots article and interview with Winslow United's new joint boss's James Green and Jordan King (pictured) following the recent resignation of Paul Alleyne and his trusted Assistant Roni Joe:

Well be interesting to see how they get on, they’ll be building a team from the youth side as I’ve heard a number of the first team have already said they are signing for other clubs, certainly they will be almost starting from scratch.

Winslow Boy - You've been quiet lately, are you okay, what do you think of the coaching and backroom team James Green and Jordan King have assembled, it looks like there are some exciting times ahead at Elmfields Gate:

Yeah, all looks positive. We’ll see, I’m not sure about all this back room team stuff, not much coaching you can do at this level, lucky if you get one training session a week with everyone. With rumours of a few clubs around paying out silly money it’ll be interesting to see what players end up where.

Winslow United's new Management team of James Green and Jordan King will be looking forward to welcoming 'new kids on the block' Burton Park Wanderers, Irchester United, Kidlington Reserves, Letchworth Garden City Eagles, Long Crendon, Northampton Sileby Rangers, Penn & Tylers Green, Raunds Town, Rushden & Higham United, Thame Rangers and Wellingborough Whitworth to Elmfields Gate next season following the restructuring of the National League System at Steps 4-6 level where the Club remain in the SSML Division One, albeit an unrecognisable Division from this season:

Seems to be a lot of signings for Winslow from Aylesbury Vale Dynamos (Twitter), Can’t be going down to well. Looked liked AVD had started to turn the corner under Granville.

Apparently all those players are sh!t anyway, were only subs and the manager was happy for them to leave. Winslow have lost whole teams over the years to the likes of Ardley, Buckingham, Aylesbury, mk teams and so on, this season a lot of players have gone to Risboro. Aylesbury vale or whatever name they had that season approached Paul and Roni mid season in a previous season to try and get them to come over and bring majority of the players with them. Winslow had a whole team leave on the Eve of a season and had to pull out of the league for a season, lost a whole team when Perry Mercer left just as a season was starting, lost a whole team when Wiffin left and went to Athletic, not the first time Winslow lost a whole team and manager to Athletic either. These players don’t belong to any club, players these days follow managers, we all know that, some people whine and cry about it, others just get on with it. At our level it’s also rare the team that starts the season is the same as the one that finishes it, revolving door.

The merry go round of players and managers. It’s quite strange, managers leave clubs to join others but take the same players with them. It would be truly amazing if they stayed at one club with the same players. I’m sure there are different reasons for this but mostly it doesn’t need to happen.

im sure one of the first questions to all managerial candidates is; do you have a pool of players that will follow you?
