Interview with Mark Nisbet

I've always rated Mark as a centre half and was delighted when he came to Slough FC. He's been a great signing and in this interview he comes across as a sound bloke. I truly hope his heart problems are firmly behind him and he carries on enjoying the rest of his football career.

It's funny that he rates Nevin Saroya so highly, as from this Slough fan's perspective I found Nevin a rather irritating centre half, as he can be intimidating and troublesome, not that I've seen him play regularly[say over a season] but on the a few odd occasions, I have. To me he seemed the type of player you would prefer to be in your team, rather than watching playing against your team. Perhaps that a compliment in a back handed way but it isn't really supposed to be.

He obviously has a high regard for Drax [Johnson Hippolyte]. I rated Johnson as a player, when he played for Yeading back in the day.  Johnson Hippolyte as a manager seems a mixed bag, going by his results/achievements but he got it spot on, when recognising Mark's qualities as a player and sticking by him.

Slough's timing, picking Mark up at that precise point in his football shelf life, has proved to be very fruitful indeed for us and we've been very fortunate that he's slotted so well into our team. He certainly provides an air of assurance at the back and is a consistent in his form. May drop the odd gaffe now and again but his overall contribution is one of being 'a very steady eddie' to have at the heart of defence. Ideal club captain. Definitely deserving of the amount of games he's played for Slough [and Maidenhead].

Agree that Nis has certainly been excellent for us since signing from Maidenhead.

Done well when he's been team captain but for me, a bit like Guy Hollis, just a bit too quiet but that's only my preference as choice of captain.

Have to say a bit worrying to hear that he thought about ignoring/keeping his heart problem to himself just to carry on playing.

I thought Nevin Soroya was a solid center back, didn't take any prisoners and had a bit of class and I would certainly have liked to see him in a Slough shirt.
