3spirit
Thoroughly enjoyed this interview. Captain material if ever I saw it. Not likely for it to be with Slough, though. He's certainly my type of player , and his personality/character shone in this format, to match my way of thinking. I've never classed Guy Hollis as a dirty player, so for me the number of yellow cards and red cards he has received are a misrepresentation of him as a player. As a combative, competitive player, he is always likely to get a few but it doesn't make him a malicious or unfair player. He's certainly a player I would keep if Slough were to get promoted to the National Premier next season. Given what he said and how I view the game going, though, I see him as a better fit for Step 2 and 3 , in all likelihood. Of the players Bakes and Unders initially brought to the club from Godalming, Guy for me has always stood out and he has become one of my favourite players of recent times, and nothing has changed much in this regard, despite him not playing quite so many games this season. If it was my choice he would play more often.
Reading Rebel
Guy is committed and whole hearted in the tackle but certainly not a dirty player. Unfortunately the way the game has gone these day's with the rules on tackling and players feigning injury, players like Guy are a dying breed and will always pick up their fair share of red and yellow cards. Alan Greenaway
Another good interview. Love to hear the players honesty and humour. One consistent thread coming through these interviews is how much the players regard the professionalism at Slough. All credit to the Management. sdelaney
That sending of at Maidenhead was a joke decision as was the sending off at Concorde Rangers two seasons ago Alex Wall was all over Guy we should of been given a free kick. Remember Unders giving Wall a talking to at half time or he was asking him what his next move would be Ha Ha !!! Guy top class nicknamed the earth rnover by us lads and 3Spirit who stand next to home dug-out when he goes for that lounging tackle there.s only one winner. . I have never called him 'the earth mover' SD but I do call him 'the tank' as he is capable of breaking down anything that stands in his way ! I'm very much of the old fashioned opinion that a Captain has to not only lead by example with his performances but also has to be vocal in his leadership. Encourage but also dish out the verbals when necessary.

I agree with what you are saying here, RR, I just think, though, that not all captain's need to shout and bawl at fellow players to gain the respect of team mates. Guy Hollis doesn't appear to be talkative on the field of play but he does strike me as dependable player to have in a team and is the type of player that is willing to put his body on the line to win matches, and does lead by example. Some of the best leaders of men don't need to say a lot. As I said previously I don't see him being captain for Slough but I certainly do see the role being a strong possibility for him, in another team in the future. Unnecessary shouting and balling won't get respect but IMO they have to talk and be a good communicator. A bit like being a manager on the pitch. C'est la vie
On the subject of captains, here's a question. Best Slough captain? I'd go for Dave Woozley
