Sad about Laurie Craker. Only just read of his passing.

Only met him in person once, and enjoyed a few beers with him and Slough's old manager Dave Russell in the One Pin pub in Hedgerley on a New Years Eve night, in the season they were managing Slough. Made my night meeting them and chatting about the Slough Town team but I'm not sure my wife was as impressed! lol!

He certainly was passionate about his football and it was apparent back then that he cared about local non-league football, and was hoping to enjoy success at Slough fc. It was not to be but least he wasn't lost to other local teams, and so forged a position as a good non league coach and a turn to man of many a local manager/chairman.

RIP Laurie.

Sad news, as 3spirit correctly says Lawrie was passionate about non league football and was involved with many local clubs over the years.

The mention of the One Pin pub also brought back memories. It is long gone and is now houses, if my memory is correct it was used as a location for the 1950s film Genevieve.
