Photographs from New Bradwell St Peter v Enfield Borough in a SSML Division Two fixture on 28 January 2017 so a little after the Lord Mayors Show, it resulted in a 2-2 stalemate with goals from the prolific Stacey Field and Billy Lobjoit who is now with Crawley Green. Ola Akinwande and Solomon Nwabuokei netted for Enfield Borough who were promoted at the end of that 2016/17 campaign along with Division Two Champions Thame Rangers who went into the Hellenic League following their one and only season in the SSML having joined the League from the Step Eight Wycombe & District League Senior Division:

Sorry folks, it's a slow news day today, there was a thread on another Forum a while back (link below) entitled 'Grounds With Windmills Nearby' and obviously New Bradwell St Peter falls into that category however, unfortunately, the Club had temporarily folded at that particular time so not that much was said on the thread, it touched more on the windmill apparently visible from Hadley's Brickfield Lane which I wasn't aware of and also obviously the National Trust owned Grade II listed one at Pitstone which is not visible from Pitstone & Ivinghoe's ground in Marsworth Road. The Bradwell windmill, which is also Grade II listed, was erected in 1805 after a Mr Samuel Holman purchased an acre of land in 1803, following Holman's death in 1825 the windmill was inherited by his wife and son and has had a variety of owners since, it is now owned by Milton Keynes Council who paid towards having it restored by experts Owlsworth IJP Ltd:

What a photo this is from New Bradwell St Peter v Old Bradwell United in a 2014/15 SSML Division Two fixture on Saturday 27 December 2014, with the windmill in all its glory although I wonder what the linesman is flagging for, Old Bradwell United won 1-0 with a Peter Maddigan strike:

New Bradwell St Peter travel to Codicote on Saturday 19 September for their first SSML Division Two fixture of the new 2020/21 campaign, they then welcome Pitstone & Ivinghoe to the Recreation Ground the following Saturday. It's a baptism of fire for new boss Jamie Green who must have secretly been hoping that the fixture computer would have thrown up a trip to Station Road for his first game in charge of New Bradwell St Peter, it will be interesting to see what sort of reception Jamie gets from the Mursley United faithful when he does eventually return to his old stomping ground as some won't be best pleased that he jumped ship.

All New Bradwell St Peter's League fixtures for the forthcoming campaign, I see that Jamie Green returns to Station Road on Saturday 5 December:

A disappointing start yesterday to New Bradwell St Peter's North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division campaign going down 3-2 at MK Irish Athletic, hopefully they can do better next Saturday when Deanshanger Athletic visit the Recreation Ground and when the First team begin their SSML Division Two campaign at Codicote, new boss Jamie Green will be looking to get off to a winning start.

A disappointing first proper day at the office for Jamie Green as he saw his New Bradwell St Peter side go down 2-1 to Codicote at Bury Lane (pictured), the Reserves side were also defeated 4-0 by Deanshanger Athletic in a North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division fixture at the Recreation Ground leaving them already rooted to the bottom of the table. Next Saturday sees Pitstone & Ivinghoe visit the Recreation Ground for their second SSML Division Two fixture whilst the Reserves go to Main Street to take on Grendon Rangers:

Unfortunately New Bradwell St Peter went down 2-1 to Pitstone & Ivinghoe yesterday, a groundhopper from another Forum was at the game (see below), it was a grim day for the Club as the Reserve team were also defeated at Grendon Rangers, 2-0 in the North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division. Next Saturday the Reserves entertain Grendon Rangers in the Intermediate Division Challenge Trophy First Round, kick off 2.30pm, whilst the First team go to Totternhoe:

New Bradwell St Peter 1-2 Pitstone & Ivinghoe United
Spartan League Division 2

Probably one of the longer fixture titles this weekend was in Division 2 of the Spartan League as New Bradwell St Peter hosted Pitstone & Ivinghoe United.
Both teams have been at step 7 of the pyramid for some time, though in the early 90s they played each other in the Premier Division of the South Midlands League, and Pitstone won the league itself in 1990.
New Bradwell was probably the most COVID-aware ground I've been to so far this season. The bar was table service only, and the changing rooms were being sprayed down with disinfectant regularly. There was even a couple of buckets of disinfectant for the balls, though it didn't look like either were used. The club's nominated COVID officer (identified by a fetching hi-vis vest) was one of the busiest people all afternoon.
Attendance fluctuated between about 10 and 40, with people coming and going after the Brighton - Man United game and retreating for shelter once they realised how cold it was.

The ground is shared with Bradwell Cricket Club, and with stand-alone changing rooms and a serviceable stand and floodlights, it's more than enough for this level. There was something unsettling about the goalposts though...were they too wide? Too round, perhaps?
The referee was not exactly a stickler for time. He didn't emerge from the changing rooms until ten to three, and we didn't kick off until five past.

Both teams tried to keep the ball on the deck, and despite New Bradwell opening brightly, Pitstone took the lead after a defender made a hash of trying to volley a clearance away. Sometimes I feel like teams at this level do themselves more harm than good by 'trying play the right way'.
After an almost 25 minute half time break, goalmouth action became a bit more common, and New Bradwell missed a hatful of chances, including hitting the bar from about a yard out. It looked like their moment had gone, but another defensive mistake, this time a result of over-playing at the back, put their winger through on goal, and he slotted home. Rather than spur them on to go ahead, New Bradwell began to retreat, and Pitstone headed in a not undeserved winner.

The last 20 minutes was almost a procession. This is the first game I've seen in this league, but if it game was anything to go by, a team with anything approaching fitness training would challenge for the title.
There was a pleasing amount of Copa Mundials being worn; at least five pairs between the two teams.
At five past five, the referee finally allowed everyone to get out of the cold drizzle and into the warm. It was the first game I got the Big Coat out for, and I'm glad Bradwell Windmill wasn't operational. If it was, I think it might have taken off.
I think taking the goals down after a defeat must be one of the worst feelings in football.

Further to the above post, Sports Shots photographer Dale James was at the Recreation Ground yesterday (Saturday 26 September) for the SSML Division Two fixture with Pitstone & Ivinghoe and here are over 200 excellent photographs:

Not sure what happened to the above photograph but anyway New Bradwell St Peter's SSML Division Two trip to Totternhoe was aborted yesterday due to the inclement weather conditions however the Recreation Ground was playable where the Reserve team entertained Grendon Rangers in a North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division Challenge Trophy First Round tie having only played at Main Street last week in a League fixture. After 90 minutes the game ended 2-2 and could have gone either way in extra time with some of the crowd mistakenly thinking it would go straight to penalty kicks, it was Grendon Rangers who unfortunately got the winning goal to win 3-2 although New Bradwell St Peter Reserves only had themselves to blame having taken the lead at 2-1 and with a number of First team players in the side. Next Saturday (10 October) the First team entertain Berkhamsted Raiders who were also victims of the weather yesterday whilst the Reserves travel to AFC Santander.
