Rhodes
I thought it was about time a thread was opened on Milton Keynes Robins who took over the great name of Buckingham Town mid 2018/19 season, in January last year, the thread created at the time (see below) was somewhat unfair as it was not viable to continue as Buckingham Town and at least the Club, who were established in 1883, were able to continue having been very close at one point to going out of existence. They may well have lifted the prestigious SSML Challenge Trophy this season under supremo Terry Shrieves, who was a prolific striker for Buckingham Town during the 1980's and once scored three hat tricks in one campaign, what an achievement that would have been however their Final opponents Old Bradwell United would have no doubt had something to say about that. Incredibly, and I don't know whether Karen did this purposely, the last opponents for Buckingham Town were Wodson Park on 12 January 2019 and the first opponents for Milton Keynes Robins, following the name change, were also Wodson Park a week later on 19 January 2019:
Rhodes
Rather than continually post albums of photographs, courtesy of Sports Shots, from Milton Keynes Robins matches since their change of name from Buckingham Town in January 2019, as well as past Buckingham Town matches before that, here is a summary of what is incorporated in this link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dalejamesphotography/albums/with/72157712864204343 Milton Keynes Robins 2 Buckingham Athletic 3, SSML Division 1, 21 January 2020 (page 1) Ampthill Town 1 Milton Keynes Robins 3, SSML Division 1, 19 November 2019 (page 1) Buckingham Athletic 2 Buckingham Town 2, SSML Division 1, 29 December 2018 (page 2) Ampthill Town 0 Buckingham Town 2, SSML Division 1, 10 November 2018 (page 2) AFC Long Buckby 1 Buckingham Town 2, United Counties League Division 1, 30 April 2018 (page 3) Olney Town 0 Buckingham Town 0, United Counties League Division 1, 26 December 2017 (page 3) Pinchbeck United 3 Buckingham Town 0, United Counties League Division 1, 25 November 2017 (page 3) Highmoor-Ibis 3 Buckingham Town 1, FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, 6 August 2017 (page 3) Buckingham Town 3 Bicester Town 1, Pre Season Friendly, 20 July 2017 (page 4) Olney Town 1 Buckingham Town 0, United Counties League Division 1, 17 April 2017 (page 4)
Rhodes
Nice photographs from Buckingham Town v Rushden & Higham United, particularly of an iconic Ford Meadow, on 10 October 2009 in a United Counties League Division One fixture. It's 'criminal' what happened to the ground isn't it where Buckingham Town played from 1883, following their formation, until 2011 when, as discussed in detail at the time on another Forum, the Club were unceremoniously evicted: http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=331244;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;guest=335903503
Rhodes
Following the formal announcement this weekend of the merger between Milton Keynes Robins and Unite MK which will now surprisingly include Milton Keynes Irish Veterans, the new name Milton Keynes Irish FC is about as far away as you can possibly get from Buckingham Town, at least Milton Keynes Robins had 'Robins' in their title which was Buckingham Town's nickname. I wonder who's bright idea it was to name them Milton Keynes Irish and what former Manager Phil Lines must be thinking who is now Chairman at Banbury United, Phil arrived at Ford Meadow in 1989 and enjoyed huge success at the Club winning the Southern League Southern Division Championship in 1990/1991 and also reaching the FA Vase Sixth Round that season, narrowly losing 1-0 to Guiseley on 2 March 1991 in a tie that could have gone either way at a packed Ford Meadow. Unfortunately they were denied promotion to the Southern League Premier Division due to ground grading and second place Trowbridge Town, who finished a distance behind, were fortuitously promoted. Being unable to progress further was arguably the start of the Club's slow decline and they never reached those heady heights again other than reaching another FA Vase Quarter Final in 1992/1993, losing 4-1 to Tiverton Town and the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round in 1995/1996, losing 1-0 to Aldershot Town, both at Ford Meadow:
Rhodes
Very sad news to report that former Buckingham Town Manager Gary Knibbs has passed away, Terry Shrieves will no doubt be devastated as he played under him at Ford Meadow during the best period in the Club's history. RIP Gary: https://www.sportsshots.org.uk/2020/07/22/remembering-gary-knibbs-buckingham-towns-legendary-manager/

Rhodes
I'm sure I posted this YouTube footage before but not on this thread, it features Gary Knibbs in some of it and he really seems to have been a special guy and old school, you sadly don't get that nowadays:
