It makes a change to have a post on the Langford thread that's not about Adam Wombwell. It wouldn't surprise me if Rob Verdia returns to Forde Park in the next week or so in some capacity, possibly even as Reserve Team Manager if the Club haven't got one already although I'm not sure how well he gets along with Martin Wells, there seems to have been some friction between them in the past:

Langford FC are delighted to announce that we are re-introducing a Reserve team into the Beds County League for the 2020/21 season as we look to expand and take the club in a new direction. For any queries - contact the club directly or First Team Manager Martin Wells

Yeah, I wish Pete the Greek would stop going on about some Sunday league nobody.

langford won surface of the year, it’s always been a nice set up over there.

As clear as crystal now.

Now had Winslow Boy said 'has-been' instead of 'nobody' I would have probably picked it up.

Over eighty excellent photographs from Baldock Town v Langford on Saturday 13 August 2016 in a 2016/17 SSML Division One fixture played at the old Roker Park where Baldock Town groundshared with Stotfold, Baldock Town won 3-0 in Langford's second League fixture of a campaign where they were to finish in a healthy fourth place. The sides met again less than a month later at Forde Park in an FA Vase First Qualifying Round tie and after a 2-2 draw Baldock Town won 5-4 on penalties:

Langford Reserves are one of the new teams in a new look Division One of the Bedfordshire County League for the forthcoming season, the format looks a little bit confusing though from first impressions, make of it what you will:

Langford's new Reserve team are in Division One 'A' of the Bedfordshire County League and will meet with the also new Arlesey Town Under 23 side as well as Stotfold Development and Totternhoe Reserves, I'm not sure whether the Club have appointed a Reserve team Manager as yet and, if not, it wouldn't be at all surprising to see Rob Verdia return, like the Prodigal Son, to his beloved Forde Park to take the reins:

Langford's Reserve side have received a bye into the Second Round of the Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Challenge Cup where they will host Ampthill Town Development who were also fortunate to receive a bye, the two sides meet at Forde Park on Saturday 26 September, kick off 2.30pm. Langford have appointed duo Daniel Plumb and Matthew Hart as joint Managers of their new Reserve side who, as is also the case with the First Team, haven't had the best of it during a busy pre-season where they have lost far more games than they have won, it doesn't bode well for the difficult looking Bedfordshire County League Division One 'A' campaign ahead:

Langford have published all of their First team fixtures (see below) starting with a tough FA Vase First Qualifying Round visit to Lowfield to take on Hoddesdon Town. Meanwhile the new Reserve side will kick off their Bedfordshire County League Division One 'A' campaign with a trip to Eaton Park Rangers on Saturday 3 October, kick off 2.30pm, they then entertain Kempston Athletic at Forde Park the following week followed by another home game with fellow new boys Arlesey Town Under 23's on Saturday 17 October. First of all though it is a little matter of Ampthill Town Development in the Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Challenge Cup Second Round at Forde Park on Saturday 26  September, kick off 2.30pm.

Langford Reserves make their bow tomorrow in the Bedfordshire County League Division One 'A' when they travel to St Neots based Eaton Park Rangers, it should be an interesting one with the Priory Park Club not in Intermediate Cup action last Saturday whereas Langford Reserves were involved in a thrilling Second Round tie with Division One 'B' side Ampthill Town Development at Forde Park, losing 4-3 with goals from Neil Blyth and a brace from Robbie Wilcock. Meanwhile the First team haven't began their SSML Division One campaign very well at all and are pointless after three fixtures as well as exiting the FA Vase at the first hurdle to Hoddesdon Town at Lowfield, hopefully things will improve for Martin Wells men tomorrow when they host Hillingdon Borough at Forde Park who have only played one competitive fixture thus far so may well lack match fitness:

Both fixtures involving Langford's First team and Reserve side survived the elements this afternoon, the Reserves travelled to Eaton Park Rangers for their first Bedfordshire County League Division One 'A'  game of the new campaign, following a narrow 4-3 defeat to Ampthill Town Development in the Intermediate Cup last week, and enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win which bodes well for the season ahead and next Saturday's fixture with Kempston Athletic at Forde Park. The First team entertained Hillingdon Borough and took advantage of the visitors lack of recent games and fitness, also winning 3-0 to earn their first points of their SSML Division One campaign after four games, boss Martin Wells will be a happy and relieved man this evening and won't be so apprehensive about the trip to Shefford Town & Campton next week despite their surprise 4-0 win at Ampthill Park this afternoon.

A nice programme cover from a 1992/93 South Midlands League Premier Division fixture between Langford and Letchworth at Forde Park on Tuesday 26 January 1993, five season before the South Midlands League and Spartan League merged and Langford joined the new SSML Premier Division North, unfortunately finishing bottom in that inaugural 1997/98 campaign with just five points and being relegated to the Senior Division which later became the current Division One in 2001/02:

Langford's FA Cup exploits over the years leave a lot to be desired don't they and they have been on the wrong end of some drubbings such as at Grays Athletic the season they joined the new SSML from the South Midlands League, a 6-0 home defeat to Aylesbury and, more recently, a 9-1 reverse against Hadley at Forde Park:

These were nice programme covers weren't they for Langford's 2001/2002 campaign in the SSML Division One and they also kept the same cover for 2002/03 and 2003/04. In 2003/04 the Club were promoted to the Premier Division as runners up to Haywood United and remained in the top flight until 2010/11 when they finished bottom and were relegated back to Division One where they have unfortunately remained ever since:

The match programme line ups from Langford v Royston Town in a 1994/95 South Midlands League Premier Division fixture, at Forde Park on Saturday 26 November 1994, both Club's were founder members of the SSML three seasons later and placed in the Premier Division North however Langford finished rock bottom and were relegated to the Senior Division. I see that Tony Galvin was in the Royston Town squad, can you imagine what it must have been like that afternoon to welcome such an icon to Forde Park:

As we know the 2020/21 SSML season has been unceremoniously 'curtailed' as was officially announced by the FA last week that 'Steps 3-6 will be curtailed' although, in the case of the Bedfordshire County League, it has been declared null and void with no promotion or relegation taking place. The League are preparing to run end of season supplementary cup competitions across all its five divisions, these will commence on Saturday 10 April and run until Mid-May. That includes Division One 'A' where Langford Reserve's inaugural campaign came to an abrupt conclusion after eight League fixtures, the most played by a Club in the Division, when sitting in fourth place in the table, their last outing was on Saturday 19 December when winning 6-1 at Houghton Athletic with goals from Cameron Bridger, Ijaz Rahman, Robbie Wilcock and a hat trick from Rowan Hedley. Only the previous Saturday they had beaten beleaguered Houghton Athletic 8-1 at Forde Park with goals from Richard Marvell, Joshua Cranwell, a brace from Luke Smith and a quartet from Robbie Wilcock. Langford's First team meanwhile were also last in action on 19 December losing 2-1 at Forde Park to Winslow United, largely thanks to Saeed Yusuf receiving his marching orders on just half an hour with the score at 1-1. Prior to that Martin Wells men had not kicked a ball in anger for over six weeks when holding Buckingham Athletic to a 1-1 draw at Forde Park on Wednesday 4 November, pictured below whilst  observing two minutes silence for those who bravely made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom:
