Matt
Another blast from the past on the club’s YouTube channel at 3pm this afternoon with all 90 minutes from the Walsall FA Cup tie from 2004. Aside from the obvious highlights, look out for Christian Metcalfe absolutely flattening Paul Merson... and getting away with it! Last Saturday’s showing of the Amateur Cup final proved very successful so why not tune in and join the chat room to share memories of the day - or thoughts if you’re watching it for the first time! sdelaney
Well done all behind getting the game on for us all to watch again. Walking round to the dressing room after the final whistle to see the look on Merson.s face was a delight. Then the clubhouse was packed on sunday to watch the draw for the next round all looking for that big game only to end up drawn against Yeading so disappointing who then beat us to get the dream draw away to Newcastle.Just like when we beat Millwall only to be drawn against Bishops stortford losing again. On the commentary what a busy player how times have you heard that phrase when talking about Harris in a Slough shirt over the years. Is there any chance of seeing one or both of the Amateur Cup semi final games against Dagerham played at Chalton and Fulham. Both were top class games with plenty of goals even if we did lose in the end. Replay at fulham was on MOTD cameras everywhere that day as the boat race was on to. sdelaney
Another mistake the highlights of this game was not on MOTD but on the Big Match ITV presented by Brian Moore every sunday an hour of highlights from the top london clubs fixtures played on the Saturday a few minutes of the replay were shown. Must say as a supporter since 1967 I always had these two games the Bromley game the Millwall game and Tommo scoring the only goal at Boston gaining the points to stay in the Conference as my top five games . But since then we have had the games v Kettering, Kings Lynn, Merthyr, the two come backs v Eastbourne, and Dorking both down to ten men. So my top five has changed slightly. Radders
My top 5 games (bearing in mind I’ve missed a few of the modern classics - Merthyr, dorking, etc) would be; Stevenage 1998 fa trophy Walsall 2004 fa cup kettering 2014 play offs gainsborough 2017 fa cup kings Lynn 2018 play offs
Rebellier
Sdelane - I well remember that Boston away game - great result against the odds at a BIG stadium. My first away game is in my top 5 - 1980 - Wycombe 1-4 Slough.

My first away game is in my top 5 - 1980 - Wycombe 1-4 Slough. I remember that Boston game, too. I liked their stadium. Haven't been to Boston for years. Looked nice back then, I wonder what it's like now? It's so difficult to single out games as your best ones. After all these years, it's hard to remember half of them! I would say that the away match against Wycombe, when Dave Kemp was in charge and there was a full house, and loads of fans who couldn't get in,who then went up the hill overlooking Adams Park watching, sticks in my mind, as does the away win in that season against Woking 0-2 as that was our best passing display,as Kemp liked to play a lot of long ball stuff . I also think the 3-3 home draw against Reading in the FA Cup sticks out under Alan Davies managerial reign ,as the atmosphere in Wexham Park was electric and we had that late drama of coming back from 1-3 down to draw 3-3 in the final minutes. Wexham Park for me was a great ground to watch games at, as it always seemed to generate a great atmosphere when ever there was over a thousand fans in it. Playing Wokingham, Windsor and Kingstonian[believe it or not!] in league games in 1989 with crowds of over a thousand at Wexham Park are high points. That away win in the FA Trophy against Stevenage lives long in my memory, as Stevenage thought their name was on that cup that year and even seemed to have the referee on their side that day. Slough were unfancied and complete underdogs and we still came out on top.Never to forget that fantastic penalty save from Paul Wilkerson. Obviously the away Bromley match and the Walsall match are unforgettable. Beating Chesham when Bruce Grobelaar was in goal for them was ace. Think Graham Roberts was managing them then. Can't rememember the year. The away win against St Neots when both sides were vying for the title under Steve Bateman was a cracker. Sean Sonner scored a superb header for Slough to win 1-0. I tend to remember the players, as much as the games and so I'm bound to miss out some great matches, that I should have said. Under Bakes and Unders we have been spoilt for choice, with the Kettering and Kings Lynn play off wins being the high spots but I thought the way Slough beat Rugby away in the semi final, before we met Kettering was a superb win with George Short having his best game for Slough, and the whole team a huge credit to our club that night. I really enjoyed the 2015-2016 season, too, not that we were the best team by a long shot but because we were building a team and I thought we played some pro-active stuff and looked like we were developing well and had a good mixture of players[young, experienced, and good use of the loan system] which made most of the games incident filled. Southern Premier division matches I enjoyed a lot. Very first game in the Conference South against Hampton and Richmond [draw 1-1] stays with me, just for being back in a top division.Beating Woking away 0-1 in 2018 was also a class victory that year. Not seen enough games in 2019-2020 , through ill health and financial restraints, and now all these postponements but the home 2-1 win against Wealdstone is a particular favourite of mine. Rebellier
I'm probably a bit 80's centric here. The aforementioned 1-4 up at Wycombe, the looonngg away day at Scarborough as underdogs but a splendid hard fought 1-1, Orient away in the cup, a home 3-3 draw with title chasing Altrincham, and of course the unforgettable 3-7 (SEVEN) - teleprinter fans - at their place. Altrincham had a great side then. I remember Northwich Victoria being full of class players, too. Perhaps should have mentioned the two games against Barnet in our first season in the conference as well.Should also mention the 3-4 win against Stafford Rangers away after being 1-3 down at half time and a certain Stan Collymore playing for them. Wish I had seen the Bakes and Unders 4-5 away win against Merthyr, though.
Windsor Rebel
I thought we lost to Barnet 6-1 in our second game back in the Conference after beating Boston 2-0 on in the first game of the season, with Steve Thompson scoring a wonder goal? 3spirit
Two other games just thought of..... Slough holding Mansfield to a 1-1 draw at Beaconsfield under Steve Bateman. Terrific crowd for there and a fantastic result considering how far apart in divisions we were. The other game was also a FA Cup match but at Wexham Park. Can't remember now who we played, think it might have been Macclesfield. Sure it was league opposition but what was memorable was it went to a penalty shoot out and Slough lost something like 8-9 on penalties ! Think Bakes and Unders should look this one up! ha ha! Windsor Rebel, yes we did lose 1-6 at Underhill, that was what was so unforgettable about it! We were thrashing teams in the Vauxhall Opal league and had won our first home Conference match but I remember chatting with my brother and mates at the Barnet game, how difficult the season was going to be, as the gulf in class was obvious ! Barnet then were the best team outside the Football League. The Barry Fry/Stan Flashman win double. We certainly came down with a bump after that game ! GarySTFC
Just under 3,200 in the crowd at Barnet and we equalised through Rake early on in the second half. https://www.sloughtownfc.net/reports/3580
