It’s probably more likely we’ll see 2nd place promoted but then at least the NL be forced to relegate all clubs.

Sorry Glen ALL clubs new only first placed team goes up the other one has to go up via the playoffs, you can't change the rules at season end. As I said previous IF the season had been called off 2 weeks earlier we would of been 2nd. To say because Havant are second they should go up is wrong, if that's the case we would still be in the Southern Central.

Epic Rebel that is obviously nonsense. The rules have been changed to promote Wealdstone. The season is supposed to be 42 games. They had nine games to go and were only three points clear - anything could have happened. The league has been settled on PPG instead.

Tosswell has given a rough calculation on Twitter that it may cost around £20k to play 3 rounds of matches which includes the private testing cost plus wages. That’s still a massive amount of money with no guarantee of promotion, aside from Havant and Dorking do they other 4 clubs have these resources or want to pay it?

Looking at Paul Doswells calculations they only assume 2 games i.e. a semi final and final.

So if these figures are correct you can add another 7,500 + wages for the extra game if we made it to the final.

More National League incompetence?

It seems that all National league clubs were told to expect a new "resolution proposal" by Sunday.

As I write this it seems that according to Bakes' and Unders' twitter pages that not only has no proposal been received (and it is now Monday morning),but no contact has been made to the clubs to say there will be a delay.

Who is running the National League ?

Is anyone?

It seems that it could be pushed back to Thursday to give the NL a bit more time to come up with the right solution and clubs a bit more time to get their vote in.

One way or the other if only they had the decency to communicate their intentions.

Not official, but I have just seen this posted on the Ebbsfleet United fans forum

‘I have just heard that the National League have announced that Conference North & South play offs WILL be on the resolution being sent out to member clubs.

If passed the resolution would see Barrow AFC promoted to the Football League as champions, with Chorley, AFC Fylde and Ebbsfleet being relegated. Playoffs would also be held to decide who joins the Bluebirds in League 2 next season.

The deadline for the vote will be Wednesday with the decision announced on Thursday.’

Apparently this has also been posted by someone on the Non League Paper page.

So Maidenhead survive the trapdoor?

My understanding is that Bury FC have applied to join National League. If successful, they would be placed in National League North. That is why only one (as of now) or three (subject to the resolution result to be announced on Thursday) clubs will be relegated from National  League.

It is a strange situation as although Bury FC failed to fully honour it's Company Voluntary Arrangement, it has not as yet been put into liquidation. But Steve Dale has always been confident of a buyer being just round the corner!

Not much of a drop for them in comparison to Maidstone Utd back in the 1990s?

I think they worked their way back up from the Kent County league to the Conference Premier eventually until their relegation last season

The difference currently is that the original Maidstone United did go into liquidation and were ground-sharing with Dartford prior to it.

A few days later, the directors of the former Maidstone United got involved with a local youth football club, Maidstone Invicta, and immediately created an adult team which would play their home matches on the training ground of the former Maidstone United. Due to this lack of facilities, Maidstone Invicta were elected to Division 4 of the Kent County League for the 1992/3 season.

They gained approval to change their name to Maidstone United FC in 1995.

Have I got this new resolution correct?

I read it as saying that playoffs will take place "if legally possible".

And that a decision on whether playoffs will actually be allowed to take place will only be made once this new resolution has been passed ?

Perhaps I'm reading it wrong but to me it seems that clubs are being asked to vote for something that is still very vague.

I think it just means that any decision made by the NL has to be ratified by the Government due to Covid 19.

Thanks for your response Reading Rebel, but I thought it had already been decided that the Government were not opposed to any playoffs taking place, and that it was up to the National League to decide what to do next ?

If that is the case I would have expected them to say in the resolution something like " Playoffs will take place in NLS and NLN as long as there are at least 4 teams willing/able to participate".

Instead the National League have basically  said that they will "try" to have playoffs, but that you've got to vote this resolution through before we will even consider this as a possibility.

Still smells to me they are trying to stop Ebbsfleet and Fylde from being relegated at any expense !
