What a day! That for me was reward for all the years of not playing in Slough, being beaten and/or laughed at by clubs like AFC Hayes, Daventry and turned over in local derbies by Beaconsfield, Burnham & Windsor. We were a big team at that level in opposition minds back then.

Seeing Jamie McClurg score the winning goal had me thinking what it must have felt like to score it! I know what it felt like seeing it go in as a spectator, fantastic!

Thanks Gary for putting these up.

Charlie Fanner, young keeper signed from Holmer Green, made 9 appearances keeping 1 clean sheet.

Had a couple of great seasons at Hanwell Town FC where he won the SSML Premier Division title in the 2013/14 season.

Left Hanwell Town FC to go traveling.

Clurgy's reaction to scoring the winning goal was priceless.

Never seen him run so fast.

I liked centre half Luke Evans, who was Derek Sweetman's captain but he looked decidedly unhappy playing for Bateman, so it seemed the right decision of a new manager to clear him out.

Steve got it right keeping Ryan Fenton, Dean Harper,Jamie Jackson and Kyle Jeffery for the start of 2009 but the writing looked on the wall for them,

Luke Evans went to Hanwell Town FC in the 2011/12 season as Assistant Manager but he still played at centre half for Hanwell Town and he really tightened up the Hanwell Town defence and he was a character. It's a shame he wasn't at the club longer.

Dean Harper played for Hanwell Town FC before joining Slough Town FC another very good defender.

Luke Evans certainly looked a fearsome character and didn't take any prisoners on the pitch.

Yep he was exactly the sort of centre half Hanwell Town FC needed at the time when he joined the club and he made a difference to the clubs fortunes on the pitch that's for sure and I'm sure he was a big influence in the dressing room as well.

He was definitely one of Derek Sweetman's better signings for Slough. Certainly a no-nonsense defender. Strong tackler and not bad in the air. Seemed a clued up centre half and tried to lead from the front. Unfortunately he got injured at least, three times in the season, which mean't he was in and out of the team. When he came back the first time. Slough results improved[for about 3 games] and the second time back he made a difference but Derek Sweetman had started to tinker around with different player combinations each week, so the team began to struggle for form. If anything, some of the hastily brought in players were no better than what he already had.  Also Luke never found a settled centre half to play alongside.

With the team indifferent at putting a run of results together, Luke's third spell in the team looked shaky and he grew frustrated with his team mates and with the way he was playing, as he started to make bad errors himself. It was a shame as the early season form of Derek Sweetman's side had promised so much.

I don't think Derek Sweetman is one of Slough's best managers ever but he certainly isn't among our worst either. Had Luke Evans stayed fit, Derek would have had a mainstay captain to build around but it just wasn't to be. Luke's injury was a huge blow to Derek's team and certainly dented his plans.

Although he did inherit a poor side following on from short term managers Darron Wilkinson and Mark Betts, Derek Sweetman must be up there as one of our most unsuccessful managers.
