About time we got to an actual legend ? I have it on good authority he came out of retirement in December and it now plying his trade for White Roding Vets over 45’s in the Essex Vets League

NF, if you know Paul send him my best. I imagine the ginger locks have diminished by now! You must know those other legends Kev Cooper and Ryan Redford?

Yeah, less a legends thread, more a thread of any Tom, dick and Harry that may have played for five minutes.

Savagebee - Craig Henney was understandably a popular player during his time at Haywood Way and when Aylesbury won the Premier Division Championship in 2009/10, he is almost 36 now and no longer playing as far as I am aware:

Everybody has there own SSML legends.

It's just a bit of fun nothing serious.

I wonder who the favourite ever SSML player is of a certain Official who posts on here, I could take an educated guess at George Georgiou but I may be wrong. I believe that the great man only ever played for one Club in the SSML, Haringey Borough, although he Managed Cockfosters and obviously New Salamis until he was unceremoniously and unfairly sacked by the Club on 27 September last year. I took this photo of George myself at Cockfosters Chalk Lane a number of years ago:

No photo description available.

Rhodes, do you know NF and Paul Evitt?

Smallholder - Yes, I know him, we go back a lot way when he was living just off the Essex Road in Islington, close to the infamous Marquess Estate, he frequented the Mem & Lez Brasserie in Theberton Street near the Angel

The 2011/12 SSML Premier Division campaign was pretty much a two horse race throughout although AFC Dunstable did their best to hold on to Royston Town and Dunstable Town's coat tails and, after accumulating 92 points, it was surprising they were not finally promoted until 2015/16 when winning the Premier Division. In previous seasons 99 points would have certainly been sufficient to lift the Championship Shield however Dunstable Town were unfortunate to come up against Royston Town and then not be promoted to the Southern League along with them although they made no mistake the following season with a record 114 points and going unbeaten. A number of players netted over 20 times during 2011/12, such as Lee Roache and Nathan Frater for Dunstable Town, Lawrence Bunker for Berkhamsted, Bernard Christie for AFC Dunstable, Stacey Field for Aylesbury United and Kaan Fehmi for Royston Town, however the unsung hero of the campaign had to be Ian Cooper of Colney Heath who only finished eighth in the table yet Cooper (pictured) found the net 30 times in 32 league games as well as additional Cup goals. Ian also played for Aylesbury United, London Colney and Boreham Wood during his career and his equally prolific elder brother Kevin also plied his trade for Colney Heath at the same time:

Savagebee - Ian is nearly 39 years old now and I believe has hung up his boots, he was a great servant for Colney Heath and here he is netting a hat trick at St Margaretsbury during that 2011/12 campaign I highlighted earlier:

The 2012/13 SSML Premier Division was all about one team and one team only, Dunstable Town, who won the Championship by a record 20 point margin, going unbeaten throughout the entire campaign. Surprisingly however, Lewis Putman (pictured) of Oxhey Jets was the player of the season scoring 52 times in just 26 League games and adding numerous Cup goals, Dunstable Town's top marksman Lee Roache could only manage 37 goals in 22 league outings. Lewis Putman joined Oxhey Jets as a youngster in 2008 and stayed at the Boundary Stadium until the summer of 2013 before spending time on trial at Wycombe Wanderers, he then joined Wealdstone however sustained a bad knee injury and returned to his beloved Oxhey Jets briefly before moving to Hanwell Town in 2014:

In 2013/14, Hanwell Town almost did a Dunstable Town the season before and fell just three points shy of their record points total, albeit with less goals scored, the only game the Reynolds Field Club lost was surprisingly at Cotlandswick early on in the campaign with London Colney winning 2-1. The surprise package of the 2013/14 season however were undoubtedly Ampthill Town who had only been promoted out of Division One two seasons earlier, they amassed a 124 goals tally largely thanks to striker Danny Watson (pictured) who netted for fun throughout and is currently plying his trade with Crawley Green where he scored six times this season before the curtain came crashing down. Danny's other Club's include Barton Rovers, where he started out as a youngster, Leighton Town, Newport Pagnell Town, St Ives Town, Bedford Town, Kempston Rovers, and St Neots Town:
