SSML Legends Where Are They Now?

Recommended Posts

Just a bit of fun ?

A SSML Legend can be what ever you class to be a SSML Legend?

Ex Holmer Green FC Striker Dean Allen is now playing for Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East club Penn & Tylers Green FC.

Dean Allen scored 23 goals in 28 games this season.

He's still got it :thumbsup(2):

Savagebee - Thanks for starting this thread, the great Leon Rolle springs immediately to mind, Leon plied his trade for Haringey Borough for a number of years when they were in the SSML and was part of their Under 18's side who reached the FA Youth Cup Second Round proper in 2004/2005. He could and should have gone all the way at football but is now a World famous musician with the Brit Award winning band Rudimental:

Leon Rolle is a former captain of Haringey Borough and played in central midfield for the non-league club

Obviously former Haringey Borough Assistant Manager and Kentish Town Manager Clement Temile has to be included, one of the most famous ex players ever to be involved with the SSML, the so called 'Great One' literally put the SSML on the World football map in 2008 when applying for the Nigeria National team job whilst still with Kentish Town following former West Germany international Berti Vogts resignation. Fortunately for Kentish Town Clement just missed out on the Super Eagles job by a whisker and he went on to lead the Club to the SSML Division One Championship in 2007/2008:

Savagebee - How about former Tottenham and Republic of Ireland flying winger Tony Galvin who managed Royston Town from 1994 to 1996 and had a later spell at Garden Walk as Coach under legendary boss Paul Attfield who brought another SSML legend Craig Hammond to the Club from Mildenhall Town for an undisclosed fee. Craig netted an incredible 81 goals during the 2008/09 campaign when Royston Town won SSML Division One by a Country mile with 103 points and with a goal difference of +108. Back to Tony Galvin though, pictured below in his heyday at White Hart Lane, and it has to be to the SSML's credit that they can attract such iconic legends to their ranks, no doubt the likes of Micky Hazard, Ossie Ardiles and David Beckham will be featured later in this thread, Beckham was on Brimsdown Rovers books between 1989 and 1991 and the rest is history:

Here's one for you folks, wait for it, Takumi Ake, former Haringey Borough magician in the SSML who went on to play for Hendon, Team Bath, Newport County and Chelmsford City, what a player: Takumi is now back in his native Japan.

Savagebee - This is a really good thread, thanks again for creating it, it's a shame more members aren't getting involved. What about Kevin Gallen who, I gather was born and bred in Chiswick and started his illustrious career at local Club QPR in 1994 before moving to Huddersfield Town in 2000 and then to Barnsley before returning, Prodigal Son style, to Loftus Road for six more years where he netted another 54 times for the Super Hoops to add to his 36 goals for them previously. In the twilight of his career Kevin turned out for Leverstock Green in the SSML during the 2011/2012 campaign and obviously pulled up trees at Pancake Lane in his short time with the Club, often winning games for them on his own. I gather Kevin is now involved in various football related business ventures after a Coaching spell back at his old stomping ground Loftus Road with both the Youth team and First team:

Who remembers the great Szilard Szappan who plied his trade for Haringey Borough in the SSML during the 2004/2005 campaign when Potters Bar Town won the Premier Division Championship by a Country mile. Szilard was a well travelled former Professional attacking player and had played in Singapore prior to coming to London where the Coles Park Club were fortunate enough to secure his services, I gather he is now back in his native Hungary and still playing:

Here we go folks, Danny Tilbury, who skippered SSML Hillingdon Borough in the 2006 FA Vase Final at St Andrews (programme below) in their 3-1 defeat to Nantwich Town and lifted the Southern League Cup with the Club in 2008. Tilbury had a John McGovern and Brian Clough style relationship with then Manager Steve Ringrose in a hugely successful period for the Middlesex Stadium Club when they were also runners up to Oxford City in an enthralling 2005/2006 SSML Premier Division title race but were still promoted to the Southern League Division One South & West that season due to pyramid restructuring. Following Ringrose's surprise departure at the end of the 2007/08 campaign Tilbury joined AFC Hayes, where he unsurprisingly turned the Club's fortunes around immediately, finishing seventh in the Southern League Division One South & West and lifting the Middlesex Senior Cup for the first time in the Club's history:

Savagebee - It was such a big deal at the time (September 2011) that Winslow Boy started a thread on this Forum entitled 'Kevin Gallen', you posted on it yourself but obviously don't remember:
