1973 Amateur Cup Final on YouTube

With no football to look forward to tomorrow, you can watch the whole 90 minutes of the 1973 Amateur Cup Final at 3pm tomorrow on YouTube via the link below. Hopefully it will bring back some happy memories for those who were at Wembley that day.

Please bear in mind the footage is now 47 years old and the quality isn’t the best in places!

Thanks as ever to FCVideo, who got the footage uploaded and are also working on other videos for us.

Agree well done to all at the video co In improving the quality as I have also watched the game on disc that Alan Smith received from the library which was not as good.

Still believe Walton were lucky not to get a player sent off in the first half. There cynical play paid off in the end. But we did not create real decent chances in the ninety minutes.

So disappointing for them to score so late on to then turn around and walk out of the stadium.

Have to agree, it was not a good game. I thought Slough dominated the first half without reality creating anything, then just faded to doing very little in the second half as Walton dominated. Walton were a very physical side especially in the first half.

Summed up by the commentator at the end, obviously not into the microphone but still picked up by it 'thank goodness for Mr Connell, didn't want another 30minutes of that'!

Still, good to see a piece of our history on screen and now hopefully saved for the ages.

It was a terrible game of football but I enjoyed the chat. As a result we are a step closer to getting hold of Slough v Millwall which was my first game!

You must have come away from Wexham Park thinking "It can only get better".

That was the worst football match that I have ever seen both on and off the pitch ... and I've seen Millwall quite a few dozens of times!

We lost 1-4 at home to Bishops Stortford in the next round.

I'd be amazed to see this!

AFAIK no one was there to film it?!

Garry Attrell has a copy on VHS apparently. I'll try and get my hands on it and see if FC Video can convert it but in the grand scheme of things it might not be the best idea with social distancing measures in play and a lockdown looming. We've got a few other matches lined up in the meantime.

OK.   I still have an image in my mind of watching Gary running into the box and placing the ball in the far bottom corner - I was up in the stand that day away from the madness thankfully, a different kind of lockdown ensued afterwards as we were advised to not leave the ground for a while!
