Irishadrian
Have to agree Mark Significant that we had to go back 5 months finding our last three good gates and another was a Boxing day fixture We are just commencing the run in with every chance of qualifying for playoffs and possibly more given our current position and we should see increasing gates as the season winds down imo
Reading Rebel
I think in any standard of football a good % of clubs will only get a really good attendance when they are either playing clubs who have a good following, they are playing a big name club or it's an important game. Due respect to Hungerford but they are not any of those. If we'd been playing a top 5 club yesterday do you think our attendance would have been bigger? Stan
All Football Clubs have a basic level of attendance that is hard to break out from. It’s based on History population and league position. You cant do much about the first two . For example if Blackpool , Blackburn or Sunderland were to get back in the Prem they would have much bigger crowds than Bournemouth Watford Southampton etc because they have ‘historic latent support . We benefited on that to a small scale when we moved back to Slough and got promoted . We were a much bigger club than our position showed. A game at Home to Hungerford a few years ago would not reach 250. The work the club is doing is exactly what’s needed. Free tickets targeting underrepresented Groups attracting families and kids but that’s all about building a new history and takes time. Given the weather recently, the worries about the vIrus I think Saturdays crowd was pretty good. Keep up the good work on and off the pitch and they will come. Reading Rebel
We must also not forget demographics. Slough is a very different place to what it was a number of years ago. Stan is right in what he say's, it is not a quick fix and will take time but we are going in the right direction thanks to the efforts from people like Mark Bailey.
