Coronavirus - SSML

Sorry but isn't this taking things just a little bit too far:

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE The League has placed a temporary suspension on all pre and post match handshake formalities. This will take effect from tomorrow, 3 March until further notice. This decision is based upon current guidance issued by the Public Health Authorities.

Hellenic League have also contacted clubs this morning with the same information, does seem a tad over the top.

I have mixed feelings about this.

I notice some organisations have adopted elbow-touching instead of a handshake.

They are also debating this topic on another Forum and the general consensus is that it is way over the top and a knee jerk reaction:

The Spartan South Midland League has tweeted:

Presumably they will also be requesting that players ensure that they stay two metres apart at all times.
The England cricket team have, meanwhile, announced that they won't be shaking hands in Sri Lanka; they will be fist-bumping instead. How is that going to be any better? The world's gone mad.

You mean at the Enfield Borough v St Panteleimon Semi Final, to be fair to Enfield Borough they made a fist of it against the unstoppable St Panteleimonn and it was described as 'an epic Semi Final that defied its Step 6 status'. How were you paid out of interest as I noticed this comment on the Enfiled Borough Twitter page, did you give them your bank details:

We probably shouldn't hand over any money to the match officials either. Bank transfers only

Is that a forbidden handshake I have spotted in the game at Leighton Town last night, will the culprits be apprehended by the SSML hierarchy and suspended or fined:

Savagebee - I suppose we can be thankful that we don't live in Italy where all sport will be played behind closed doors until at least 3 April. Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte also stated that all sporting Club's and organisations are responsible for checking their players and staff for the Coronavirus, can you imagine Boris Johnson telling New Salamis and St Panteleimon for example to do that ahead of their 'battle' tomorrow, they would tell him where to go:

There is a lot of debate on another Forum, and information on various websites, about the effect the Coronavirus is having on non league football and the Non League Paper carried an article last Sunday, it appears to have really taken hold over the last week including here in Denmark where games are being played behind closed doors, has there been any recent directive or announcement from the SSML hierarchy in addition to, and other than, the continued handshake ban:

Here we go folks, it's really starting to bite now isn't it, Barnet have laid off their entire non playing staff, I wonder how many other Club's will be forced to follow suit:

There's an interesting thread on another Forum entitled 'Coronavirus Friendly List' where, wait for it, friendly fixtures are supposedly being arranged by Club's in the light of the suspension of competitive league and cup fixtures, that says it all about the climate we're currently living in doesn't it. Perhaps a certain Official can start a trademark thread on here three months early, listing any friendlies arranged involving SSML Club's:

It's not mid season is it and more than three quarters of the way through, mid season would be around mid December. What did you do this evening out of interest when you would have presumably been 'plying your trade' at St Panteleimon v Stotfold, I didn't catch what game you were on but that looked the most obvious or else Rayners Lane v Winslow United or Harefield United v Aylesbury Vale Dynamos

In the last 48 hours I have been working out the logistics of completing my local Competition before the end if the season.
