This Saturday (3 October) Scott Reynolds men entertain Enfield Borough at Stratford Fields followed by a visit to McMullen Park to take on current SSML Division One surprise leaders Bedford a week later on 10 October

It has been non stop for Buckingham Athletic this month thanks to Scott Reynolds men being handed seven demanding League fixtures during October including the likes of Bedford, St Panteleimon and Rayners Lane away and Stotfold and Milton Keynes Irish at Stratford Fields. Instead of complaining, as some Managers would do, Scott has professionally rolled up his sleeves and got on with things and it says it all about him that his team lifted the Team Of The Week award on Ollie Bayliss's Non League Show recently with the great man giving a totally riveting and articulate interview on the show. The month began with an impressive 5-1 win over a young Enfield Borough side (see match report) followed by a hard fought 0-0 draw at Bedford's McMullen Park who, at that time, were in top spot having won their first four League outings. There then followed an amazing midweek 9-1 victory over a beleaguered Hillingdon Borough outfit with Owen James netting a hat trick followed by a quick return to Stratford Fields to beat an in form Stotfold 3-2 (see report) which, in times gone by under previous Management, would have been a banana skin for the side. Unfortunately the last two fixtures given to the Club, somewhat unfairly, have proved a bridge too far, with a 5-2 defeat at 'big boys' St Panteleimon last Saturday and a narrow 1-0 home defeat to a very good Milton Keynes Irish team on Tuesday evening (see report) who netted just after the interval and somehow managed to hang on like grim death in the end especially when Jeremiah Adams struck the inside of a post in the 74th minute and Owen James shot wide in the final seconds with the net gaping wide. On Saturday Scott Reynolds takes his leg weary troops to Rayners Lane in a hope of getting back to winning ways before another road trip to Langford the following Wednesday (4 November):

A low key interview with Scott Reynolds following the 9-1 demolition of Hillingdon Borough on Tuesday 13 October, instead of jumping for joy as most Managers would have done and saying he was 'over the moon' Scott's immediate thoughts turn to the following Saturday and the game with Stotfold, that simply says it all:

I know this album is on the Buckingham United thread but not this one, photographs and a match report from the pre-season friendly fixture on Saturday 20 July 2019 between Buckingham Athletic and Buckingham United at Stratford Fields, there is some dispute as to whether the result was 13-2 or 13-3 to Buckingham Athletic:

Cannot for the life of me figure out why Ath had their goal disallowed against Langford, watching Cold Ends (brilliant) highlights all I saw was someone win a perfectly good aerial challenge.

Winslow Boy - I think Buckingham Athletic unfortunately got the rough end of the stick in their last few games prior to lockdown and since beating Stotfold 3-2 on 17 October when they briefly topped Division One. Firstly Karen handed them St Panteleimon away and Milton Keynes Irish at home back to back on a Saturday and Tuesday and then a difficult trip to Rayners Lane (photographs below) where I gather they were robbed blind, then, as you say, they should have won comfortably at Langford who had already lost four League matches at Forde Park. Hopefully Scott Reynolds can get back to winning ways on 5 December, coincidentally against Langford at Stratford Fields:

Yeah yeah, don’t make excuses, you could have just given Buckingham Ath games they could win all season. Totally corrupt.

Ben Aqcuaye went on to set the league alight with rushden and diamonds and potentially could go even higher. The season that they had this Fa cup run I think he was up and around the top scorer list for division one.

Winslow Boy - That's right, here is some interesting Q&A with Ben at Rushden & Diamonds, do you know if he is still there. Can you spot him in these photographs from Wingate & Finchley v Buckingham Athletic in a 2016/17 FA Youth Cup First Qualifying Round tie, at Summers Lane on Thursday 22 September 2016, the season before their run to the First Round proper of the competition, Wingate & Finchley won 5-3 after extra time with the score 3-3 at ninety minutes:

An additional album of photographs, and match programme, from a 2019/20 SSML Challenge Trophy First Round tie between Baldock Town and Buckingham Athletic, at Hitchin Road on Wednesday 21 August 2019, resulting in a fairly comfortable 4-1 win for Baldock Town with Jacob Williamson netting Buckingham Athletic's consolation goal. The Cold End was in attendance so there are video highlights on his Blog:

The Hellenic League have made a statement on the present situation. It must be so disappointing for everyone at Stratford Fields particularly having appointed Scott Reynolds this season and the strong feeling was that Scott was very much the man to finally take the Club to the promised land, back to the SSML Premier Division where they belong and where they left in 1998/99 when taking voluntary relegation to Division One for financial reasons which then involved minimal travelling. Division One became Division Two in 2001/02 where the Club remained until 2002/03 when winning the Championship under Management duo Steve Cole and Keith Walker and also lifted the Berks & Bucks FA Intermediate Cup which they retained the following 2003/04 season when finishing fifth in Division One under Steve Cole and Micky Lemon as Keith Walker had stepped down:

A different album of photographs to that posted earlier and YouTube footage, Sports Shots had two photographers at Stratford Fields on Saturday 13 October 2018 for the 2018/19 FA Vase First Round proper tie with Eastern Counties League Premier Division FC Clacton, resulting in an exciting 2-2 draw after extra time with Jordan Appleton and Samuel Olawale netting and Joshua Mcadoo and Robert Tapp both seeing red. The Club faced a long trip to the Essex coast the following Tuesday and unfortunately lost 3-2 having led 2-0 after 24 minutes, Samuel Olawale scored both goals, also see YouTube footage:

Buckingham Athletic's full FA Vase record since entering the competition in 1998/99, the season after becoming founder members of the SSML, joining the Premier Division North before being placed in the Premier Division for 1998/99 which remains their one and only campaign in the top flight. The following season the Club asked to join Division One for travelling reasons as they 'bypassed' the Senior Division which also involved long trips to London. Hopefully Scott Reynolds can take Buckingham Athletic to the promised land next season as he looked like doing this season before the rug was cruelly pulled from under him and it was curtailed:
