v Havant & Waterlooville

Didn't see the 'towel gate' incident but when someone said it was Paul Doswell who started the shenanigans my initial thought was that it must have been his assistant, only because I thought it wasn't the sort of thing Doswell would do.

Is it against the rules to use a towel to dry the ball? if not I'm not sure why the fuss was made.

Even though we were on top in the game at the time it was still 0 - 0 and the throw in being so close to their dug out drying the ball gave there manager the chance to disrupt our game wind up our players even hoping to get one sent off and wasting time at the same time.

But credit to our players they kept there distance it seemed ages before Sam went over to intervene with the ref. But what goes around comes around as all there shananagones added more injury time and it was in this period when we scored.

I am sure bakes@unders will instruct our players not to get involved in any of there shananagones in the away game to as if required they will use the dark arts in the game if necessary.

I'm not aware if anybody has commented elsewhere about this, but I thought the extra camera that was used for the video highlights of Saturday's game against Havant added an extra dimension to what is already a fantastic service.

Well done.

I was wondering if it was a one off or will be an ongoing thing.

As you say I thought it was excellent and added something different to the occasion.

I think you mean "shenanigans".?

I can not find any rule regarding drying the ball. FA Rule 2 "The Ball" does not refer to it and online the only reference I can find is to players putting the ball inside their shirts to help dry it.

I think it was as simple as Paul Doswell thought we were gaining an unfair advantage.

But take away the towel you’d use your shirt to dry the ball, so what is this unjust advantage exactly? It’s all tactics to disrupt and wind up, simple as.

I think it'll be a one-off for now, a lot depends on FCVideo's generosity and availability - not just having an extra person filming but also the extra work editing.

They are aware of the positive feedback though and we would look to have multiple cameras for other big future games, including any potential playoff games.
