Great idea to have Ladies day, hopefully storm Dennis doesn't ruin the occasion.

The weekend forecast for the South of England is pretty grim !!

It’s very frustrating that the weather will probably knock off a few hundred of the attendance especially when there’s no Premier League games plus other local EFL clubs are away. Our game won’t postponed in terms of the pitch but I guess it could be on H&S grounds bearing in mind it’s council owned so they’re going to be more cautious.

With our pitch it’s very unlikely to be called due to heavy rain and strong winds. It’ll be down to H&S issues with fans getting to and into the ground which I guess is in the hands of the council? I really hope it’s doesn’t get postponed as I’m sure they’ll be a lot of local games off which may benefit our attendance.

is there any danger that the game could be called off because of the forecast?

With gust up to 40mph + rain I would expect the game to go ahead. Played and watched in worse than that on grass, well churned up mud.

Who remembers Yeovil away 30 odd years back?

I really hope the game is on. We with our great home record and the leagues best defence Them the only team still unbeaten away from home

Impossible to call likely imo to be one of games where the team who wants it most prevails

At least we have a clear mission to end their unbeaten away run and  they have begun to wobble their last two away games ending in goalless draws

COYR.

The issue is likely to be whether the ball will actually remain stationary for dead ball situations..... how is the match going to be playable if the ball won’t remain still for goal kicks, free kicks, corners, kick off or even penalties?

And I seem to recall in our last match there were issues even in a strong breeze, and tomorrow they are still forecasting 45 mph winds, which is a gale.

You're  quite correct Curtis  its uncommon for games to be abandoned for wind but it happens A few years back Arbroath v Stirling was abandoned by the ref because it wasnt possible to play football any longer ball couldn't be  still for  free kicks goal kicks etc and stayed in one half for 18 mins  Mansfield v Oxford  around 2005 abandoned in similar circumstances  and lots of games never started due to H&S concerns

Surely another player can just hold the ball with the feet until it’s kicked?

The last game I remember a game being abandoned due to the wind was away to Arlesey Town a few years back.

Every time there was a goal kick the ball just kept coming back to the keeper.

Just looked at the match report v Arlesey away for the 2009/10 season and it say's we won 2-1 and the game was played in strong wind and rain so maybe my memory has failed me and the game did finish  ?

Law states  that Once a player has touched a 'dead' ball, it has to make a full revolution before another team mate can touch it.

That may have been changed to just needs to move.

So, if a player is holding it still, and the ball is kicked, it's a free kick.

If the law hasn't been changed before this season.

Ok thanks for educating me! Although the rule should be allowed to change in this circumstances.
