What a massive contribution Bakes and Unders and their squad have made ahead of this very important event.

0-1 at Braintree Town and 1-2 at Hampton and Richmond Borough : two massive aways will enable the Fans Forum to commence in an awesome mood.

Remember on 18th. June 1996 during Euro '96 England beat The Netherlands 4-1 at Wembley?

A Dutch player said to Stuart Pearce, "I don't believe this is happening." Stuart Pearce replied, "Well it ....... well is happening."

Don't forget this evening that Rebels are second in National League South on merit with a league run, after the unfortunate circumstances that caused the first three matches of the season to end in defeats, of 15-7-2 F41 A22. And with two away wins preceding The Forum, they show every sign of this form continuing. It's a good squad which is superbly managed to achieve these results, not one which is over-achieving. So let's not hear any negative talk this evening.

I think it's generally accepted that when it comes to budgets/money spent we are over achieving.

Just look at the other clubs that occupy the play off positions including the mighty Maidstone who sit just outside the play-offs, it's pretty much a given that their budgets are much bigger than ours.

We are second on merit, not because of money spent but because of the camaraderie/togetherness we have within the squad and of course not forgetting we have very good players.

I made some notes at The Forum to email my fellow supporters who now live far away. I hope that my notes are fairly accurate and that I haven't missed out much!

Adie Gomm introduced The Forum.

Panel : Mark Bailey (Operations); Neil Baker and Jon Underwood (Joint football managers); John Porter (Acting chairman and general manager); Kay Lacey (General secretary); Mike Lightfoot (Slough Town Supporters Trust); Craig Edwards (Commercial manager)

Neil Baker and Jon Underwood : We are not going anywhere. We like it at Slough Town and our aim is to win promotion to National League with Slough Town. The fans are brilliant, particularly away from home.

Jon Underwood : We aim to come 2nd. or 3rd. in the play-offs unless we can catch Wealdstone. We believe that we can win the play-offs.

Mark Bailey : Advertising is restricted by the council who have numerous adverts around the ground. The number of club advertising boards is increasing and we encourage people to approach firms to book a board.

Neil Baker : We have a small squad but most players want to be playing. The area which needs improving is the final third so that we score more goals. We have had Premier League clubs offering us players on loan as well as every reasonably local League One, League Two and National League club. Loan players expect to play and unless we have an injury, we do not want to upset our squad by restricting their playing time by bringing in loan players. The club has good football contacts. Francis Amartey could go on and play in the English Football League but it wouldn't be with us as he was not happy on the bench. He wasn't our sort of player. We brought back Louie Soares because we know what he can do and he is prepared to be a squad player.

Mark Bailey : Continues to make contact with local organisations, ethnic groups and schools to promote interest in the club. Batches of free match tickets are often offered and delivered which sometimes results in adults with children attending a match. He aims to achieve a minimum league attendance of 1,000.

Kay Lacey : Development of teams. The club only had a first team when it moved in to Arbour Park. Now it also has under 15, under 14 and under 10 boys teams, a ladies team, under 13 and under 11 girls teams and a Community team.

Jon Underwood : We would not start a reserve team. Nowadays, most players want to be in the senior team at the highest level that they can achieve. They would rather be on loan and play in a senior team than play for a reserve side.

John Porter : There is no specific five year plan but the club aims to become an established National League side aiming for the English Football League. From the experience gained from the Hereford, Rochdale and Gillingham matches, the club would be able to cope with the requirements of National League matches.

Adie Gomm thanked the panel and the supporters for attending and closed the meeting.

First up that quote has been wrongly attributed to me - our commercial manager Craig discussed the advertising boards. I suggest waiting for the official video if you couldn't be there last night before discussing it.

As I said to you on Tuesday night Steve our advertising budget is as good as zero so as well as your ideas, I need practical suggestions on how to make these things a reality given those constraints.

So....

1. What exactly do you mean and how much would it cost? Is this an existing board or are you suggesting we build one? Who do you expect to cover the cost, the club, or the council or both?

2. We almost certainly cannot afford to put together upwards of 160,000 leaflets for this and I can't imagine for one minute that the council would want it in a council tax letter - I might be wrong though so why not write to someone at the council about it or have a chat at a game with someone like Rob Anderson or Ted Plenty?

3. We are currently in the process of developing leaflets for all hotels in Slough. I'm not sure how much affect it will have as I don't think many people travel to Slough for pleasure but it's a relatively cheap to put together so not financial gamble.

Mark

Another thought. With all the new houses/apartments being built around Slough Town centre could we do leaflet drops as each block is completed with something like

" Slough Town Football Club would like to welcome you to your new home. If you are new to the area we are just a stroll away down Stoke Road.  Blah blah blah.

Please find enclosed a voucher to use for the forthcoming match against ???. "

Mark even if we generate a few new supporters per new build this would help.

If you want me to draft a more detailed welcome letter let me know.

Yes we are looking at doing this sort of thing, probably a bit nearer the ground initially. We've been looking at the location of our season ticket holders and can clearly identify areas in town where there aren't many, if any. The most obvious being the immediate neighbourhood around the ground. I will need lots of volunteers for that one so I trust I can count on you Alan and Glen?
