Leighton Town

On Saturday 27 October 2007 Leighton Town, who were then a Southern League Division One Midlands Club, travelled to Havant & Waterlooville for an FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round tie, the furthest the Club had ever got in the competition, before and after. They lost 3-0 (see report) having beaten FC Clacton, Ashford Town (Middx), Kirkley & Pakefield and Boreham Wood along the way, Boreham Wood were then an Isthmian League Premier Division side and Leighton Town won 3-1 at Bell Close. That was of course, it had to be didn't it, the season Havant & Waterlooville reached the Fourth Round of the competition, later disposing of York City, Notts County and Swansea City and twice taking the lead at Anfield before losing 5-2, Richard Pacquette was in the side and scored on just eight minutes in front of a crowd of 42,566:

Here we go, something a bit different seeing as news is so slow at present, photographs of Leighton Buzzard which looks quite a thriving town, do people with little football knowledge associate Leighton Town Football Club with Leighton Buzzard, I don't believe they:

I see Leighton Town have arranged a friendly this afternoon at Kings Langley, kick off 1.30pm, as well as at Creasey Park on Tuesday against AFC Dunstable, spectators welcome. Joe Sweeney didn't waste any time as there was a game at Bell Close on Thursday evening against Bovingdon played behind closed doors, Leighton Town won 5-0:

A very good win for Leighton Town this afternoon having been 2-0 in arrears at half time and still trailed 2-0 after seventy minutes:

What happened to Leighton Town last night going down 4-0 at Creasey Park to AFC Dunstable, I gather it was 1-0 at the interval and Leighton Town didn't put up very much resistance at all in the second period:

Photographs and match reports from Aylesbury v Leighton Town, at Haywood Way on Saturday 19 March 2016, in a Southern League Division One Central fixture from 2015/16, resulting in a 0-0 stalemate. Leighton Town were relegated to the SSML at the end of that disappointing campaign finishing second from bottom to North Greenford United who were also relegated to the Combined Counties League:

Coming back to the infamous FA Vase Fourth Round tie at Eynesbury Rovers last season, here are a lot of good photographs that I don't believe have been posted before, I'm sure AlwaysLeighton can spot himself:

YouTube footage from Leighton Town v Hadley in a 2018/19 SSML Premier Division encounter, at Bell Close on Saturday 13 April 2019, resulting in a 1-1 stalemate with David Murphy netting for Leighton Town, there were some serious handbags during the game:

In today's video I went to Bell Close the home of Leighton Town as they played against Hadley in Spartan South Midlands Premier Division. There was a massive football fight after a late challenge by one of the Leighton Towns player

Leighton Town made the trip to the Recreation Ground on Saturday 26 September 1992 for a 1992/93 Diadora Isthmian League Division Three fixture, having won the South Midlands Premier Division the season before and got promotion. Aldershot Town obviously won the Championship only losing two League fixtures however Leighton Town weren't that far behind in fourth place and only lost the game at the Recreation Ground 2-1 in front of 2,104, they were one of the two teams who beat Aldershot that season, winning 1-0 at Bell Close, on Saturday 30 January 1993, in front of 1,522, does anybody remember the two games:

Another interesting programme from Saturday 24 October 1970 and an FA Cup Third Qualifying Round tie at then Isthmian League Premier Division St Albans City, Leighton Town were in the Spartan League and narrowly lost at Clarence Park 2-1 where they had opportunites to take them back to Bell Close for a lucrative replay:

If you don’t remember, or know, about the 2 games, you’re not a Town fan. Safe to say, they’re written in Leighton Buzzard folk-law forever and people still, to this day, talk about the games regularly...

Photographs, match reports and programme from Baldock Town v Leighton Town, at Hitchin Road on Saturday 19 September 2020, in a 2020/21 SSML Premier Division fixture, resulting in a 3-1 win for Leighton Town, Archie McClelland scored all three goals after the hosts had taken an early lead:

Winslow Boy - I'll see what I can find, Leighton Town's squad for the home game with Aldershot Town on 30 January 1993 was 1.Mark Townson, 2.Tony Joyce, 3.Shaun Cavanagh, 4.Paul Firth, 5.Neil Edwards, 6.Sean Downey, 7.Steve Kirkby, 8.Tony Thompson, 9.Steve Norman, 10.Tony McGuinness, 11.Steve Drewe, subs.Gary Hutchinson and Sean Hancock, the Manager at the time was Bill Harrison who is sadly no longer with us:

A very nice interview with a youthful Scott Reynolds, with the idyllic backdrop of Bell Close, following Leighton Town's 7-0 win over London Tigers in the final League fixture of the 2016/17 SSML Premier Division campaign on Saturday 29 April 2017 with goals from Louis Norton, a brace from Domenico Marsala and a hat trick from Lorrel Smith. Who would have imagined what was in store the following season, finishing fourth in the table and reaching the FA Vase Quarter Finals under Scott:

Some good players there. I played with Tony McGuinness when I was starting out in men’s football. Excellent player. Tony Joyce there too ex pro, who has managed and played for Buckingham Town and Aylesbury Utd. Is he at Kempston coaching now?

would be interested to see Aldershot team too. Shots always get good crowds no matter how low they drop, great old ground too, been to watch a good few games there.

Over 100 photographs from Chertsey Town v Leighton Town, at Alwyns Lane on Saturday 8 October 2011, in an Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central fixture from 2011/12, resulting in a 5-1 win for Chertsey Town despite having just been promoted from the Combined Counties League. Craig Wells was Leighton Town's supremo then but he resigned early into the following season only to return to Bell Close for the 2013/14 campaign:

This is already on the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round thread however it's the two 'On The Road' guys who attended the Leighton Town v Leiston tie at Bell Close on Saturday 3 October, I see the young 'Chavs' were all out in force so apologies in advance for the bad language and 'hand signals' although AlwaysLeighton will no doubt say that they are just 'young lads who support their local Club'. Joe Sweeney's men could and should have got an equaliser towards the end of the proceedings with Step 3 Leiston very much on the ropes, they must have kicked themselves afterwards:
