I don'think Bakes was saying the players were affected by the quietness of the crowd it was more that when we are not playing well the vocal backing from the crowd can sometimes lift the side a notch or two which can make the difference between winning or drawing a game.

Same sort of thing really, RR.

Firstly, that goal was a ‘I was there’ moment. Take a bow son !!!

i thought their ‘10’ or so fans were great in vocal and banter support. Didn’t stop singing. A lot of opponents support could take note. I applaud their support today ?

I thought our support was quiet today, but don’t think that reflected the team.

as for the game....

forgive me if mentioned before, why was dan Roberts missing today? I felt we missed him.

i was impressed with Manny’s contribution. Surprised he was taken off first out of the two strikers. Was this due to fatigue / age? IMHO I felt he offered more today out of the front two.

for me, we looked leggy from the start. Not sure if we made them look good or they were better team than I was expecting to turn up. They seemed to have more zest to their passing and play. Crisper passing.

they had skilful wingers and that big fella in defence didn’t lose too many in the air.

we are (for me) are in one of those moments with regards to form (normally saved to late jam / early feb). So dare I say (as with all teams, not just us) dip infirm is expected, so not to be too despondent.  As jon on Twitter, we are punching, so are we as fans expecting too much?

It was clear we were a patched up team / short on players today ( I ships have taken my boots to get in subs bench ?)

Dan Roberts has the flu, which also took Max Worsfold out of contention. Players running on fumes meant an underpar performance. Point gained as could easily have lost today. Bright spark for me other than the Davies goal was the cameo of Joe Grant, who looked very sharp. Would like to see more of him in the coming weeks

Rebel Matters, we missed Dan Roberts big time today but he was out because of flu.

You beat me to it, BFR, about players with flu.

I don't like to slate young players but I haven't seen anything to write home about in Joe Grant since he has been with Slough. I know it was asking a lot for him to perform wonders, when he came on today but I just can't see what he offers, and to me he seems better suited to playing one division lower. No disgrace in that but I just feel when he's had game minutes with Slough, it never quite happens for him.

My only problem with us looking 'leggy' is that Eastbourne looked quite fresh and sharp, certainly a yard or two quicker than us around the park.

I really don't think Manny is a true striker. He tends to do most of his good work receiving the ball with his back to goal and bringing other players into the game.

Grant hasn't had a whole lot of minutes in a Rebels shirt to be fair, and most of those he has had I haven't witnessed. I'd like to see more of him before making such an assessment and given current squad depth he may get that opportunity

Each to their own.

I know he hasn't played much but in the games I've seen him in,he really hasn't offered a lot. He is a right winger but he is no way going to get in the team in front of Warren Harris and is in reality, a squad player. I don't want to knock him and want him to do well but you can't keep giving him a chance and not expect something in return from him. I'm not blaming him for today's game, I just find he struggles to have any impact. To my mind,he would be better suited to the league below and that way he can play regularly for a team. I think our managers were right to take a chance on him in pre-season but now is the right time to take a punt on another young lad from a lower level, as Joe hasn't really grasped his opportunity at Slough.

We are fourth with 2 games in hand but one of those is away to Havant so for me tomorrow, although not play-off place defining, is crucially important as regards grabbing one of those the top 3 places.

Hallo RR!!!

Thanks to my pre-season title favourite Maidstone United, we picked up a point on Havant & Waterlooville yesterday.

I wouldn't write him off yet at this level 3spirit for two reasons:-

 i) He came on today to try and bolster a team under-performing due to a mixture of injuries, health and match fatigue as a result of two excellent team performances against  the division leaders.

ii) He was outstanding each match that I saw him playing for Hayes & Yeading United at the level below. That does not mean that he is better suited to that level unless he fails to make the grade after a number of matches with a more in form Rebels side.

I hardly think playing two forwards is adventurous!

I'm glad Bakes and Unders play various formations and our team now is able to adapt to changing shapes in games but just because we've played 4-5-1 for a number of games and been relatively successful with it, does it mean we have to play it every game?  To me it's got nothing to do with formation,it's about players doing the business. Tomorrow I would like to see Francis start from the off and get him to use his pace to get at Eastbourne and to see how he shapes up playing alongside Dan Roberts. I would go with a slight change of personnel from the off but with the notion that things can alway be changed if we find Eastbourne hard to break down.  If George Wells is fit, my team to start would be like this [first 45mins]

                                                  Turner

                     L.Togwell    S.Togwell  Bird  Wells

                     Jackman     Davies    Lench   Worsfold

                                        Roberts   Armartey

Subs: Fraser, W.Harris, B.Harris, Williams, and whoever we have available to make up the bench.

That's a fair enough selection 3spirit.

But come the next day,  Dan Roberts and Max Worsfold could not make your starting line up and Ben Harris could not make your substitute's bench.

From what I heard around the ground, Warren Harris, Lenchmark and George Wells were playing without being 100% fit and well.

I said to the chap standing next to me at half time, " That was the worst half of football I've seen all season anywhere. It will be a match of two halves. The second half we'll be dynamite."

Well, we weren't! But full marks to Neil Baker and Will Tuck for their excellent post match interview and report. They were both accurately referring to the match that I had watched!

Difficult circumstances for Bakes and Unders but my afternoon was lifted by the Havant & Waterlooville v Maidstone United result. 15 points to pick up in 19 matches for the title!!!

SG, I'm not one for writing players off and never have been. The difference, though, is I look at young upcoming players to see if they have the hunger, desire, character and skill to put themselves in the mix. So far I have seen little from Joe Grant, other than a fleeting run and a goal in one match, however he's now featured in 8 games this season and just struggles to get on the ball and do anything decisive.

I believe he should go and get games regularly at the level below to build his confidence up, I'm not writing him off, to me that's character building. It's not about if he can come good this season for our team. To me it's about Slough getting back on track to challenge for the play offs [if we are truly trying to do this],so it feels the right time to bring in a couple of fresh faces for new ideas on the pitch. We don't need to break the bank to do this or do we need mass change. I would go after a new right winger/attack minded player from the league below, not to replace Warren Harris but to give him a break from time to time and for competition.Wazza would still be our number one choice. For me Joe Grant is not the answer. I would be on the look out for another young player to compete for a squad place till the end of the season, preferably a left footer. That way you can run the rule over them, with next season in mind.

Funny enough Paul Hodges at Woking might be an offer soon, and he might be a better fit for Slough this time around. Whatever, we need to add a flair player to our team, sooner rather than later.

Most appropriate that on a tough day Warren Harris plays when he’s not fully fit and still puts in a typical performance and he now sits in the top 20 Slough players appearances  All the more amazing when you remember he missed a whole season through injury.  Sean who also put in a good shift is now only just our]side the top 10. Two great servants of the club.

The main reason why he was my MOTM.

Alway's gives 100% and IMO still our best player on the day despite playing with an injury.

A role model for those players who are adverse to putting in some hard work and graft.
