To bring back more memories of that day

Great photos,as always,HR.

Several faces in the crowd, sadly no longer with us but not forgotten.

That year Bury Town were the best team on merit, with Hitchin pushing them all the way. Slough were fortunate to make the play offs. We were not a bad side but didn't have enough quality in key areas to compete with the best but this was a team evolving, as it was Steve Bateman's first full season in charge. We played some good football that season but were not consistent enough. We deserved to beat Hitchin in the play off semi-final,although it was a close contest on the night but we were outclassed by Chesham in the final. We had players suffering from nerves in the final and if anything, Slough didn't do themselves justice on the day. Truth be told we weren't good enough to get promoted over the season but Steve Bateman did sign some quality players and it was early in his reign.

To Steve's credit he really turned Slough's fortunes around, when he was appointed at the back end of season 2008-9, so 2009-10 the season we're talking about here, was a huge improvement from the season before and got the club moving up the division, after a few seasons of awfulness.   He also was desperately unlucky to have his star signing/highly rated prolific centre forward, Gary Sippetts, drop a sheet of glass on his foot  in an accident at work. He was never the same player after that.

As a spectator, on the whole I thought it was an exciting season, in that we signed a few 'names' of non-league football and tried to play the right way.At the end we came up short but it was an enjoyable season overall, and looking at those photo's they bring back a lot of fond memories.

Just looked through the photos and there are some great memories.

Some supporters who are no longer with us and some who for one reason or another no longer seen at games.

Forgot all about Yiadom Yeboah and Thomas Hayes.

The face is familiar and there are a couple of photos of him but can't remember the name of Steve Bateman's assistant at the time?

As I remember we changed assistant almost every year under Bateman for one reason or another. Names I remember include Darren Salton, John Lawford, Dave Anderson and Fred Cummings.

Ah, that's it Darren Salton, he's the one in a couple of the pics.

I think he then went on to manage another club.

I remember hanging around at the end of the Romulous game that we had walked to.  No one moved, we all stayed there waiting for the Beaconsfield/Sutton Coldfield socre to come in, which for some reason had been massively delayed.

Wasn't it goalkeeper Ricky Perks doing his Chris Kamara live report from Holloways Park who brought the news of the result?

Dont  believe he managed after Slough unless someone can say who

Rather tragic case really A Scottish U21 international tipped for great things whose career was ended in a car crash which killed a female passenger in the other car The car was driven by Celtic player Paul Telfer  who Darren brought to Slough at the end of his career so presumably no hard feelings!
