Wealdstone H 26th Dec

If we had the money to bring in a 20/30 goal striker I think we'd have a chance of winning the title.

But looking at it realistically with our budget and squad size I think winning it will be a step too far.

Having said that 2nd or 3rd would be one hell of an achievement.

Why can’t we be title contenders? We’ve just beaten the league leaders and we’re top of the form table in the midst of a tremendous league run. Win the next 2 and we’re top, simple as!

If Wealdstone win tomorrow we can’t go top Glen, even with 2 wins.

Damn it! ??‍♂️

Ok well forgot I can’t add up and let’s win both anyway and hope Wealdstone draw or lose tomorrow which could be a possibility given St. Albans recent form plus it’s another local derby.

No , we have lost 4 games already . Title winners usually  lose no more than 6  all season . So I cant see beyond Havant  for the title . But given our position now be disappointed if we don’t make the playoffs which would be a great achievement in our 2nd season.

Yes weve lost 4  but we lost the first 3 and just 1 in the last 17

Also worth considering that H&W have played fewer games than any team in our league and have drawn a third of them

Yes, once they start winning games we might as well pack up and go home  ?

As I've put on twitter with their resources and training full time in theory Havant should win this division by a street.

Of course we know football doesn't always work out that way but if Havant don't get promoted I think they'll consider it a disastrous season.

I didn't think either side were brilliant yesterday but I thought Slough were good value for the win. We rode our luck in defence at times but by hook or crook we seemed to thwart anything Wealdstone threw at us. I thought their number 11 looked a handful and we did well to stop him.

Did anyone see how Wealdstone number 6[Okimo,I think] got injured? He was spitting out blood and appeared to have lost a tooth or two. Bizarre as he went down, right near to were I was standing, and myself and the fans standing near me didn't have a clue to how it happened. Looked nasty. Hope he is ok, and that it just looked worse than it was.

While the match was understandably competitive and fiesty in parts, it was never going to be a football fest but I did think Slough had the edge by Ben Harris's nuisance value first half ie drawing fouls from Wealdstone's number 3, and Francis Armatey's pace to unsettle the Wealdstone defenders in the second half. If anything I thought Slough were rather conservative in their approach in attacking Wealdstone's goal but it is clear to see why Bakes and Unders team are doing so well,as the players have learn't how to see out games well and battle for everything. The late Wealdstone goal wasn't in the plan but least it came too late to do any damage. I do think we have the habit of milking situations to see out time, some of which is worthwhile but I did think Jack Turner was OTT, when he went down easily after the softest of challenges, which in turn led to Wealdstone's players and fans getting all riled up. Didn't think that was the wisest of choices, as it could have led to more of a determination from Wealdstones team to get the better of Slough. However, I don't condone Wealdstone's unpleasant fan spitting at him. That's just moronic.

On the day, I thought Max Worsfold, Sean Fraser, Matt Lench and Ryan Bird were our stand out players.Just a pity Ryan Bird didn't bury the header he had in front of goal,as it looked harder to miss!

Anyway, it was a great Slough Boxing Day win, and one that shows that our team is cementing their place, as one of the hardest working teams in this division.

"Usually" but look at National League where after 25 to 27 matches, the least matches that any team has lost is the six teams who have lost seven.

Their home record is 5-3-2 F18 A10. Provided that their next three scheduled home fixtures go ahead, review the table on 18th. January after Maidstone United (4th.), SLOUGH TOWN (15th.) and Wealdstone (18th.).

Pre-season, I tipped Maidstone United for the title. They have lost six of their first twenty matches so watch out for an unbeaten run of twenty-two matches to finish off the season!

Exactly 120 days left before that massive match at Arbour Park on 25th. April.

Torquay did lose 8 last season.
