Wealdstone H 26th Dec

It’s forecast to be raining most of Boxing Day which will unfortunately have an impact on the attendance. I’d expect Wealdstone to bring 250-300, just depends how many home fans turn up, again if we want to keep progressing if we can’t get 900 of our own for such a massive game you have to wonder if we’ve reached our potential?

Let’s hope Wealdstone do lose some of their better players as it can only benefit our chances. As long as they don’t sign for any of our rivals! Their ground is bit of a mish mash and I’d expect would cost a bit to get upto the next level. Maybe they’re actively hoping some high earners leave if they’re having trouble sustaining the current wage bill?

I don't think they are struggling to sustain their current wage bill.

The begging bowl is out just to re-inforce what they've already got i.e. costly new striker etc.

I think the "Begging Bowl" comment was a little tongue in cheek tbf.

It was mentioned before their supporters forum and re-iterated at the forum by Dean Brennan that they are in a great position to achieve promotion but in order to give them the best chance possible supporters will have to dig deep again.

Wealdstone are in their best position for years to get promotion so make no mistake the 'begging bowl' comment was meant.

Looking forward to this game, 2 good footballing sides. Both higher in the table than their fans may have thought they’d be, interesting that Havant play Weymouth twice as well so an opportunity for everything to tighten right up or if a side takes 9points a massive step forward for them.

Bath and Dorking both having played a couple more games but form teams could get closer to the top 3.

Enjoy Xmas and see you all Boxing Day.

great result today a good competetive game  though a seemingly lack of concentration led to wealdstones goal.  there seemed to be a very good attendance today (anybody know the figures), dead chuffed with todays performance coyr

Yes excellent result   with the leagues best defence nullifying the Wealdstone attack  Now to pick up the 3 points from Hemel Hempsted  who continue their downward spiral Hemels last six league results are  W0 D2 L4  so we must have an excellent chance in this one

Its remarkable how quickly things can change in football   Wealdstone on Saturday face resurgent St Albans who are unbeaten in 5 including victories against Weymouth and Hemel

We could be kicking of on NYD where a victory will make us league leaders That's how good this squad has become.

It is remarkable how things change in football.

St Albans were bottom and struggling and now they are unbeaten in five.

There's still virtually half a season to go so lets not get too carried away.

A lovely late Xmas present! Sure it wasn’t the best spectacle but result first, performance is a bonus. Must admit Wealdstone didn’t look a top of the table side but maybe it was our strategy that snuffled them out. The atmosphere was very flat considering the magnitude of the game but pleased with a decent attendance and hopefully we can entice any newbies and casuals back. Crazy to think we could actually be top come 5pm NYD...

Excellent team performance with some outstanding individual performances thrown in.

Really good first half and with the chances that we created I think we deserved to have had a two goal cushion at the break.

Second half we kept it really tight restricting Wealdstone to minimal chances and deservedly got the second with some neat play and a really good finish from Max Worsfold.

Wealdstone's goal did look a bit soft but someone mentioned a hand ball leading up to it but must admit I didn't see anything from behind the goal.

A lot of good solid performances but for his first half performance and excellent second half strike, I think Max Worsfold would have got my vote for MOTM.

For those who are interested there is a video on the Wealdstone site of their recent fans forum with their manager/owners.

Despite being the leagues top scorers they still think they need another top striker and are on the verge of signing one from one of Brennan's previous clubs and the player is willing to take a 30% wage cut.

Probably a load of old blarney from Brennan but he reckons they currently have 55 players on their radar that they are tracking.

The begging bowl was out with Brennan stating if they need to raise more funds because their players stock is high they will lose some.

The striker is Adam Coombes on loan from Welling who came on as a sub today.

Brennan's post match interview now on Wealdstones twitterfeed  if any computer savvy members want to put it on here  Basically " we wuz robbed" doesn't think our penalty was valid wants  to see rerun  They should have had two penalties  They had too many below par players  Very worried about losing their captain for a few games  Seemed worried about St Albans on Sat
