Karen - Thanks for the notification but you didn't give the reason, it's boiler failure:

GAME OFF Sadly our match v
has been called off by the League due to a boiler failure at Arlesey. Any Step 7-4 Clubs looking for a friendly, please message here or our manager Thanks.

So you are all dressed up with nowhere to go today then, I take it you travelled to Preston Park or were en route as you sound a bit annoyed in your post

For a 0-0 it was a very entertaining game against FC Hamlets between two evenly matched sides. The game seemed to flick between 15 minutes with each side on top.

Both sides defended well to keep the clear cut chances to a minimum, although both sides missed fairly simple chances in the last 10 minutes to nick it in normal time.

On to penalties and being honest 3 of ours weren’t good enough but credit to their keeper who saved them and went the right way on all 5. Also special mention for his kicking which was the best I have seen from a keeper at this level. Was a constant counter attacking threat.

Basher Bates is very protective over his pitch and who would argue with him ?

Stingray from another Forum was at Pancake Lane this afternoon:

South Midlands Premier
LEVERSTOCK GREEN 2-1 NORTH GREENFORD UNITED
Admission & Prog £8.00 Tea, Coffee £1.20 each
Attendance 31 (official, didn't bother doing a head count although I don't think it would have been much more)

You have to feel for North Greenford. Marooned at the bottom of the table (just like they so often were in their Southern League Central days), but they never give up and on a heavy pitch that cut up progressively as the rain kept falling they actually had the effrontery to take the lead midway through the first half. The Pancakes woke up and levelled on the half hour with an effort that probably didn't quite cross the line, but the referee clearly felt it did and it's his opinion that matters.

All square at the break and in difficult conditions, both sides battled hard but it was the home side that clinched it five minutes or so before the end and all North Greenford had in response was a speculative long range free kick that dropped harmlessly into the home keeper's arms.

All timings are unfortunately approximate as the battery on my watch gave up this week and while my phone has a timer, the display doesn't last very long so I gave up.

A groundhopper from another Forum was at this affair:

Spartan South Mids. Division 2. Free Admission. Programme £2.
Buckingham United 0 v 3 Pitstone & Ivinghoe

The visitors began the day top of the table and got off to the best possible start with a goal in the first minute, a shot that took a deflection and looped over the keeper. Another goal before half time, this one from a free kick.

Second half saw the visitors add their third for deserved win. Into to double figures for travellers today including posters Wiretown Editor and aicwhu who was accompanied by his carer, Irene. Unusually Andrew arrived before kick off and stayed until ten minutes from time!

I was annoyed.

Sorting out a pitch inspection for after 12:00 is not great. I was waiting in the Costa Coffee to be told at about 12:30 the game was off.

Went down to watch Hillingdon Borough vs Langford.

I know you better than you know yourself don't I, would you have gone to watch St Panteleimon v New Salamis out of interest had the game not been postponed
