v Havant & Waterlooville

Nonsense on their forum All our fault we were asking for the abandonment just because we'd  gone 2-0 down

Our management were right and correct to want it stopped

Their management would have been prepared to risk very serious injury to players of either team since they were leading

Stunningly Stupid.

I can totally understand their supporters being so angry because in those circumstances I think we would have done the same.

TBH I thought the ref should have abandoned the game before their second goal went in because the pitch had become unplayable.

I think it was unfortunate and really poor from the ref that he allowed play to continue because at 1-0 perhaps the situation might have been slightly different.

As to the game itself, I thought Havant played the conditions far better than us, controlling the center of midfield and using the quick, direct ball to good effect to their two forwards which in turn caused all sorts of problems for our defence.

Agreed. Their manager does say he thought the pitch was unplayable tbf. But also that he thought the game should have been completed given how far it had got.

I wasn’t at the match yesterday so don’t know, but how did the conditions compare with those at Dunstable in the 2017/8 season when we won 3-0 and were catching up on a fixture backlog?

That day I seem to recall all of us behind the goal expecting the referee to abandon the match in the second half but hoping he wouldn’t as we were 2-0 up.

Or the Biggleswade match that we arrived at only to find the referee abandoned the match about half hour before kick off despite many thinking the pitch was playable.

I think the Dunstable game was more just surface water.

Yesterday's pitch was a combination of surface water and a bog because it was so soft with lumps of turf everywhere.

I think all fans want to see a game completed whether their side is winning or losing, and i for one went home disappointed. Speaking to some

Havant fans in the pub after I think they were more pissed off with the timing of the abandonment and the fact that Matt Lench was jumping with joy when the ref called it off. I can see their point TBF, although

their was no way the game could of continued

Someone put on twitter that it was almost as if the Ref was hoping we would equalize and he could then abandon the game without any repercussions.

When Havant got their second, again in farcical circumstances due to the state of the pitch, the Ref had no option but to call it off because the ball was not bouncing or rolling and the game had become a complete farce.

Fully understand their frustration . Remember how we felt when at Banbury we were winning and an idiot in their crowd caused the ref to call it off.  I think this ref got it almost right he gave the game as much of a chance to be played as possible which we all want but in hindsight perhaps the second half should not have even started . Will be a really spicy evening game if we are both still close on points. Won’t want to miss that one !
