littlehampton
Three days on from our battling performance at Stortford on Saturday, in testing weather conditions, when Town played well. but had to come from behind with a late strike from Billy Bricknell, our guys face the 'Blues' again this evening in another 'must win' Cup replay, under the lights at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium. KO 7.45pm. Another exciting, entertaining, close match is in prospect, but Town are playing well this season as a team, are at the right end of the IPL table, and will definitely be up for the challenge. Towners will remember August 13, the opening day of the season, when Stortford were the visitor's, and we beat them 5-0 to secure our first win and three-points of the 2019-20 season. Tonight the prize for the winners is a home-tie in the next Round of this prestigious FA competition against either Swindon Supermarine or Thatcham Town, both of The BetVictor Southern League. We are having an excellent season, and a good run in the FA Trophy will make it even better. Cup replay's under the lights have a very special atmosphere. Tonight is an unmissable 'must win' match. Our guys need plenty of loud, noisy, Town home support to spur them on, see them through another tough game, and deliver the win we all want. Good luck guys! Seaside Towner
We played into their hands for the first 90 minutes and got what we deservered, a very lucky draw. Extra time, we continued in the same vein and went 2-1 down. Andy played a masterstroke and put Sam Hatton on at right back and he changed the game ! At last we had that marauding full back charging down the line and wanting to send that cross into the box. We were brilliant in extra time and really deserved the win. Well done Andy and the boys, we beat a nasty , shitty little team tonight !
Richard Katemon
Wow. That was some cup tie which to be honest could have gone either way. Both teams played their part. What a save from Nathan. Don’t think I need to explain which one. There is a resilience about Town this season and some real quality which could take us a long way. Steph
I disagree with Seaside Towner as I thought that we had the second half throughout. In the first half they had a tightly disciplined back 4 with a playmaker in front of the line. We tried balls over the top but two forwards not talking or communicating with each other were never going to break them down Second half we played the ball on the ground. There back 4 got more ragged and we gradually took control with a more methodical passing game. Extra time their goal was completely against the run of play as we were dominant. I do agree that the save by Natham was probably the save of the year, truly in Bank's class.

55 seasons
The change of Hatton to right side defence worked because it also brought more composure in central defence with Jon Muleba taking that position and largely controlling their number 20 who had been a threat all night. I also felt we were poor first half but were the better side from half time onwards. Very unfair to describe Stortford as a 's****y little team Seaside Towner. They played well throughout although I agree they did indulge in too much feigning injury and diving. No worse though than many sides at this level who are allowed to get away with it by often poor and naive referees.
Steph
It wasn't just the ref. The line suggested that Mo had fouled the goalie by the one-line and it nearly got Mo booked. Mo and the goalie went for the same ball and there was no contact after the goalie had the ball in his hands. He went down as if pole axed and writhed about. That action was disgraceful. One of the things that is to admire in this team is that there is no play acting.
littlehampton
Congratulations and very well done to Andy, Mario, Steve and our players on this excellent result last night. It was a tough match at Stortford on Saturday and, from the comments posted, it sounds as though the replay was no different. Having come from behind three times over the two matches, our team showed they are a very capable, determined, hard-to-beat side, and what a season they are having, with impressive performances and wins against some very good sides. I am sure everyone will be looking forward to welcoming our next FA Trophy opponents Thatcham Town to the QEII Stadium a week on Saturday. They are having a good season themselves, and it will be a difficult afternoon for both Clubs. It will be interesting to compare the standard of The BetVictor Southern League Division One South with that of The BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division. Should be a cracking match! See you there!
lovely stuff
Very good result. It seems Andy is finally getting a competitive settled side together. And playing decent football. The character and fitness is also much improved. I still have a feeling we are maybe 'two player departures' away from falling back into the results and style of play we have experienced over the fast few seasons. But all in all things are start to look like we to be heading in the right direction.Well done to Andy and his team for putting together what seems like a third or fourth team from scratch.Lets hope this current team prospers and remains together.A consistent starting line up and consistent style of play looks a lot nearer than it has for some time.
