Best get these phrases in before I get shot down: it’ll be tough, tight, won’t be easy, don’t be fooled by league position...

Ok after Saturday’s performance I would hope all of our players are raring to go and put in a top performance after the disappointing loss to Oxford City. Welling although have some talented players aren’t playing well at all and have lost 4 of their last 5 league games. I’ll go for us to win 2-1 in front of 715.

Worst first half I can remember - no shots on target by either side, then Lee Togwell's injury.

Bit better in the second, but Welling have to be the most un-together team - constantly swearing and bickering at each other - and their big lump of a captain bellowing out at his unfortunate team mate "DO YOUR F******G job!" set the standard for the rest of them.

Great cross from Max for Ben's goal.

About 630 crowd - but Welling only brought about 30 which didn't make for any kind of atmosphere.

Thought Dan Roberts did well - he scared the living daylights out of their defence with his speed.

How did Guy Hollis do tonight, given that he hasn't played for us for a while?

I couldn’t make it but it didn’t sound like the most entertaining game?

That is an understatement, not a single shot on goal or corner in the first half...... overall a ghastly, ghoulish, Halloween spectacle!

Rebellier  Yes the Welling forum says they didn't get a shot on target till the 90th minute! That's now 8 league games theyve played for just 3 goals how quickly things can change since their PO last season

This win moves us up to 4th  2points behind both 2nd and 3rd

Guy did ok really, but their 'attack' was very poor.

Nice to call on his long throws again.

The Arbour Park crowd was below all the forecasts on this page despite a perfect evening for football. Maidenhead United were also at home but the gate of 1,010 against AFC Fylde was their lowest of the season with probably a similar number of away fans.
Hayes & Yeading United were also at home to Wingate & Finchley.

Yes the first half was completely devoid of any quality but I thought we upped our game in the second half and definitely deserved all 3 points. Welling were probably the poorest side I’ve seen so far and a long way short of the side we played last season.

The quality on display was certainly not helped by the referee who never seemed to have control of the game and seemed to get all the big calls wrong.

I was very impressed with Max Worsfold last night. He continues to improve and looks to be a key player for us now. He put in a lot of quality crosses into the box last night, it was inevitable that our goal would eventually come from one.

Midweek crowds do seem to be a problem for us – I was hoping for 700+ but that is obviously difficult to achieve when the opposition doesn’t bring anyone. However, I’m not sure I’d be prepared to take on the M25 on a cold Tuesday night for that Welling side either. Having said that, we averaged 513 midweek in the league last season so we are at least making small steps on that front. I think there were 50 odd under 16s there which is encouraging.

Hope the injury to Lee Togs isn’t too bad.

Not the most exciting of games, but 3 points and clean sheet would have been grabbed beforehand, regardless of performance.

I brought two under 16s with me to their first Slough Town match and both really enjoyed it. Can see them asking to come again. Great initiative.

As said not a spectacle but after Saturday getting the 3 points was the important thing.

Although Welling didn't look great I think they are a side that don't have a lot of flair and as such try to play to their limited strengths and spoil the game to come away with at least a point which very nearly worked.

We can't play great football every week and if we are to stay in the play-offs these are the sort of games where we've just got to grind out the win.

Excellent 3 points.

Maybe just a little bit chilly for the players to play good football SG  ?
